Chatting with Mr. Cooper; Nonspeaking Style

My son was diagnosed with nonverbal or nonspeaking autism at age 3. At age 5 the professionals told us he would most likely never learn to speak. As anyone could imagine, that news was hard to hear. But we turned our energy to helping in communicate in a variety of means. Today, he is 13 years old and he uses a speech device, a white board, a cell phone, some sign language, and a handful of words. Although he does have Apraxia so at times he can be hard to understand.
