Adobe introduced an AI assistant for PDFs within their subscription versions of Acrobat and Reader.
This AI aims to summarize and answer questions about PDF content, similar to other existing services offered by Microsoft and Google.While it can handle some tasks like summarizing text and extracting data, it currently has limitations, including slow processing time, inability to read scanned PDFs or images, and lacking true conversational ability.
Despite these limitations, Adobe sees potential in this AI and plans to add features like scanned PDF reading and AI-powered PDF creation in the future. However, the added cost and potential for subscription fatigue raise questions about the user adoption of this technology.
