Love on the Spectrum was one of my favorite shows to watch, probably ever. Just, wholesome. Oh! I just looked up and you’re propagating a TON of Hoya cuttings…. I got lost thinking about all of the shows I’ll never watch because I watch other people do things that I am procrastinating. 😅

Hi, Mandy and Katey (I probably spelled that wrong LOL). I bought a H. pubicalyx off of FB marketplace that was infested with mealies. I didn't know this until a few weeks later because the previous owner had most likely sprayed it down before selling. I was actually able to get rid of the mealies completely by pulling the large plant out of it's pot, and spraying it down outside with the garden hose. Removed EVERY bit of original soil and then sprayed the entire plant with a DIY bug spray (water, rubbing alcohol, peroxide and tea-tree + peppermint soap). Never saw another mealybug after that! The plant looked terrible for a few weeks but it bounced back :). Chopping it up (and soaking the leaves) as you've done is a GREAT solution too :D. I just sold that pubicalyx last week but I took several cuttings from it. Now I have a bunch of pots of pubicalyx, just like you :D.

Yes good point. I did try to wash it in soapy water but I didn’t take off all the soil so maybe I’ll remove all the soil and wash it in a bucket again. Cold hose water may be too harsh. I spell it ‘Katie’. ♥️

@@Planty-Mandy I use it for both foliar and flush, but I bought it specifically for root mealies. Knock wood, I don't have issues with regular ol' mealies with the pest spray I use as preventive. Now I've done it........

Knocking on wood for you!! At this point I have eradicated thrips and spider mites in my collection but the mealies just keep resurrecting.

Hey Mandy. I also need to do something with my pubicalyx. I’m thinking of taking it off the trellis and letting it hang in a window. Love On The Spectrum US has 2 seasons. There is also a Love On The Spectrum Australia. There is also Down For Love, that’s based in the UK. 🤍
