You could always put up solar panels on your roof to generate power in summer and also in winter! For heating water too. It will reduce much of your power bills! Installing water recycling from kitchen water n doing rain water harvesting in summer and fall will also help.

@@jatgee5195 for 6-7000 take home income, you should be earning $10000 plus gross. You don't get such salaries in Ottawa easily unless you are in contract jobs. Taxes in Canada itself are over 40%. Everything attracts a charge of 13% HST (what you call as GST in India). Your income tax in highest bracket is more than 40%. Unlike India, you pay tax to Central and state Govt.
