First you found the first term using the formula given, and you used the same formula to find the sum of the first 2 terms which is very okay. Now, why is that the sum of the first two terms does not qualify to be the 2nd term? And if it does, why didn't you use the formula for common ratio directly where r=T2/T1?

Hello. Your question is a very good one. I have noted that both formulas appear to give the same answer. Whether this would work or not for other situation, i am not sure. Alternatively, we could you could find the sum of the first two terms using the given formula. (Pardon my short cuts) Sum of first 2 terms = 15/2 or 7.5 Then, 2nd term= T2 - T1 = 7.5 - 5 = 2.5 or 5/2 Since 2nd term is 5/2 and we know that r=T2/T1 Then r=5/2÷5 r= 1/2 Then find the term by multiplying consecutive terms by the common ratio, r.
