Yes you can run both lights and have them do identical tasks by putting the 2nd light at 1.5 channel and running a DMX cable to them. to answer the question below. I just wanted to say thanks for making this video. I couldn't figure out how to get to DMX channel 1 and it's easy now. Cool video and it saved me a bad headache.

I just bought two 4bars, got 'em uncrated and opened the supplied paperwork to check instructions! LOL Paper in China must be REALLY expensive! The dab of instructions in the booklet amount to "plug in. Good luck." lolI am using them to wash a band (without benefit of dmx controller box), not the dance floor so maybe MY setup will help someone who's not a DJ. I wound up with BOTH units set to d--1, now when we set up, the two bars are interchangeable for left/right side of the band as either can be the master OR slave. Once connected correctly (again, with foot switch to EITHER bar) there's nothing to program. You can only do what the footswitch allows (I'm PRETTY sure!), which means you can cycle thru 9 presets with the left pedal, go to "sound activated" with center pedal or go to black with the right hand pedal. If you were running your lights in one of the 9 available programs and you go to black, say at the end of a song...when you hit the left pedal you're back to Program One...white...no matter where you were. This may seem obvious to most of you, but I thought there'd be more to the programming than that. We used the same setup in another band but I never hadda do anything to the lights, so it was confusing to me. Hopefully this'll help someone else.

I just bought this thing. It's a permanent install in my pub to light up our small stage. It's pretty cool and I like it but it seems like I can only have one colour at a time. Is it possible to have say, 2 red and 2 blue lights for example?

Does anyone know if there is an Auto program where they all just slowly rotate through all of the colors while fading in/out? I just want a set and forget color change. No flashing lights on/off. Just one solid color for all the lights. I have the older 4bar.

Paul if you just keep pressing the "program" pedal you will find that there are programs already saved where all the light remain on the same colour.

Geoff, I've got the 4bar and 4bar flex, but my menu doesn't works like yours. if I double tap the menu, my options are AUTO and SND with down button and 512 with up button. How are you getting to selecting 3ch or 15ch? I'm trying to get my lights working with an obey 40. thanks!

I have the 4 bar and the 4 play and I have the foot pedal for the bar but there's nothing really for the play unless I want to run everything with a DMX and I seen videos of different patterns that I've never seen coming out of a 4 play so I guess my question is if I bought one of these DMX controllers for it will I get better lighting with more of control options

I operate a rather large puppet music performance stage with lots of lighting. My son just gave me a single Chauvet light with 4 buttons that has an awesome glow to it. Do you have a link to a page that shows the different levels and a description of each function or do I have to just experiment and figure it out myself. Thank you for any assistance you can give. I've played with it and have seen it cycle through a few colors but they stop after a few moments. Does that mean I need to have 4 of these in order to switch from one to another or is there a function where I can have a continuous light sequence for just one? Thank you again...

One of my 4 bars when powered up displays “snd” if I hit the up or down the display reads “S81”. Hitting enter does nothing. Is it broke.

Thanks for reaching out. Can you clarify what happens when you press "menu"? The first display message is "snd" (sound) and if you hit up or down the next display "S81" is sensitivity (0-100). If you unplug the unit, hold menu and enter simultaneously and plug the power cord back in. This will enable a factory reset of the unit and restore it to factory settings. The original 4Bar does not work with the IRC-6 remote. Other models do work with that remote.

I bought 3 of these used. I've been trying for about 2 hours to set these to 3 channel operation and no matter how many times I rap menu twice, it will not take me to any menu or option to change to 3 channel mode. What am I missing? I tried on all 3 units. I only get to A, S (or maybe 5?), .512, Auto or SNd modes. In A or S, I can set values but, I need to get to the 3 channel mode to work with my controller.

Mark Beling It turns out to be one of the first series which only have 15ch mode. I have got it working now in 15ch mode by putting dmx2 on 127 value. Now I have 4xRGB control on dmx4-15

Did you ever find an answer? My foot switch went out twice so I use it with no pedal. I also want to use them fixed on one color and this video is no help.

@@mikekelly7679 You can plug it up and it should default to snd. Turn sensitivity knob up just a little. Snap your fingers and the lights will cycle thru all the options. When you get four lights the same color quickly turn sensitivity knob all the way counterclockwise and it will stay with four lights the same color that you chose. we have been operating ours this way since our footswitch went out. I noticed on Chauvet's website that you can purchase a new foot switch for $45

Can the mount be moved to the opposite side of the bar. I'd like to have the 4 pars on top and hang 2 moving heads off the bar. Is this possible?

FWS Nicholas Yes, they run in master/slave with the master being controlled by foot switch. You can connect them with a standard xlr or DMX cable.

Geoff - Help. My 4BAR Flex menu doesn't behave as the 4BAR menu does per your video. There is neither an 'enter' button or a double-click hierarchy. DMX programming seems entirely random, regardless of personality or address settings. Both the manual and DMX primer are useless. I've tried multiple controllers, including the new Foot-C. No success. It must be possible to control each light or pod separately, or as desired. If so, would somebody please show us how to do it? If not, Chauvet should explain that up front. What good is 15ch DMX programming is you can't control it? HELP!!!

Hi , on my 4 bar control panel ,there is no '' 3 ch or 15 ch '' like yours , only : sound- auto - speed and 512 , when you choose 512 , you get to the adress and then '' d'' with choosen adress . all the fader on my obey 10 do the same thing , cannot control color separately , 16 fader all do the same thing ! maybe my 4 bar is defect !

I have been running a pair of these as the foundation of my light rig for several years now. They are reliable and effective. That said, the cases (specifically, the metal zipper hardware) are absolute GARBAGE. Everything metal on the zippers has essentially disintegrated. It has literally just fallen apart and crumbled, rendering the zippers, useless. A few of the metal grommets and rivets (holding the fabric together) have also failed. Now the cases have to be held together with bungee cords. I have looked all over the internet, no replacement cases to be found. I've owned a lot of gear over the years but never seen any 'road case' built as poorly as the case for the Chauvet 4 Bar. Epic fail by Chauvet.

MJ K The zipper heads on these have been changed to a different material. The new zippers we use are silver whereas the one that failed where black. These new zippers perform much better. These bags are really just that, bags, they should not be considered cases. We also consider these to be free with these units. Bags/cases....semantics. This is road gear, designed (primarily) for the mobile DJ. The bags should be constructed accordingly. If that means the cost needs to go up some, so be it. It's worth it to protect your investment. Thanks for addressing the issue and making the fix to the product. The 4Bar is indeed a solid piece of equipment, it makes no sense to go cheap when including a road bag/case for them.
