This is, by far, THE BEST tutorial on creating water text that I have found. Finally, one that actually looks like water! I love how you showed the tools in the Repousse and 3D panels. I would have never known what the "Pan the 3D constraint" tool did. Thanks for an excellent tutorial! Also, for those who aren't sure of what version of PS you have...click on Help, About Photoshop, and it will tell you if you have Extended or not. I have CS5 Extended and it worked flawlessly :)

To get the text perfectly centered press ctrl+a to select all, then select the move tool and at the top where it says 'show transform controls' click on the second icon to the right of the text (Align vertical centers) and then click on the fifth (Align horizontal centers) and the text will be perfectly centered.

after you render it out if it's black and white you can select all, copy, quickmask, paste (you might need to invert selection, and color it whatever you want.

oh great tutorial but you forgot to mention that you should set the rendering settings to raytrace final instead of leaving it set at interactive. It will smooth everything out and make the edges less chunky.

you need to select the text first, ctrl+click the thumbnail in the text layer and you should be able to select repousse

@cainedkaty i believe it's because your grapichs card doesn't support OpenGL. Also, it might be because you haven't activated it, try pressing CTRL+k and see if you can enable it that way:)

Just a tip for people who are stuck, make sure you set the colour mode to RGB when you make a new document, if you use CMYK it wont let you use repousse

hey buddy if still havent got the answer 2 ur question, then hear it, the 3d repousse he used is a simple "new 3d extrusion from .........", the repousse is features r done automatically in cs6 extented

Try just highlighting the text layer, then go to 3d/repousse/text layer. That should work as well...

No, not if you want it to be as effective. What you can do is mess around with Bevel and Emboss after doing everything up to the 3-D part it worked for me-ish

@zamasta27794 Bhai please help me my repousse wont working and it's says video card does not meet the requirements for hardware- accelerated 3D rendering. All 3D will be rendered with software only. 3D sence now exceeds the limits of lights and/or textures for the video card's hardware-accelerated 3D rendering.As long as the limits are exceeded, 3D rendering will be done in software only and some features (eg. Repousse) will be disable. i dont understand that..please help me Thanks
