That’s one awesome watch! Those Steeldive watches are amazing. Who cares about the bracelet. Get a good rubber, leather, or NATO strap, and call it a day. Their Seiko homages are superb, and the funny thing is that even if they are doing homages to certain brands, the metal bands are most of the time equal, to better quality than the original… especially Seiko’s sorry bracelets. Seiko bracelets are as trash as cheap Casio metal bracelets. I always let my bracelets soak in some Rock and Roll extreme lube for bikes for a couple of hours in a sandwich bag, take it out of the sandwich bag, wipe it completely dry. It makes the bracelet feel like a high end bracelet, instead of rattling junk. The case back is beautiful. I have always been a big fan of a nice round, or bubble casebacks because they are much more comfortable, and allows the crown to sit higher away from your wrists, and have better decorations than flat case backs. Believe it or not, the first thing I actually look at to see if it is a true quality watch, is the case back… always.

My dad had a 1955 Blancpain that I wore to school one day in the 70's and broke it. To him it was an old watch that he hadn't worn in years. Anyways, I told that story to a friend and he said "There's a million copies of that watch online." I ended up ordering the STEELDIVE you got here. I've had it for about a year and a half now. No problems with it, I've changed the straps and bracelets several times. It's on wrist right now with a black leather rally I got from Cheapestnatostraps for $15. I also counted 360 degree bezel, but mine lined up nicely. If I have to add anything, it would be that this watch is VERY close to the original. Same pointy edges and sawtooth bezel. Honestly, that Blancpain ($65 watch brand new) was pretty CRUDE. Not nearly as nice as the Omega's my dad usually wore. The only real difference I can tell from the STEELDIVE is that the lugs on the older watch were skinnier, less 'meat on the bone.'

I have the Steeldive 1970 ("Captain Wiilard" homage) model, which was only $120 when I bought it but now can be had for around $80. It is an awesome watch for the price! It also has a sapphire crystal, ceramic bezel, really good lume, Seiko NH35 movement but the bezel on mine has no back play and lines up perfectly. The bracelet, however, is the same as your 1952 with very poorly integrated end links, sizing pins with questionable integrity and just overall cheapness. I believe they put most of the money into the watch head and the bracelet is added as an afterthought. I took the bracelet off and put my 1970 on a FKM rubber tropic style strap and it looks great! I've had it for over a year now with no issues.

I usually buy from Steeldive. However, this time around I went with the Tandorio. Better PT5000 high beat rate (4Hz) movement and a double domed sapphire crystal sealed the deal, for me. At only $100 for a watch with a PT5000 movement...it was an easy decision. Fit/finish on the Tandorio was surprisingly good, considering the price point. On par with SD. The crown is unsigned, as is the backplate.

You won't believe me but I've been following this watch for over a year. By now I own a Marine master MM 300, tuna can, several SKX and turtles, MM 200, Sumo and a Samurai. Some of them from Steeldive and some like the Samurai assembled by myself. That has been my journey and never expected I was going to end up collecting watches. So happy you reviewed it. I know pretty good Steeldive and Addie's dive brands, no quality issues so far, at least not serious ones. I understand these homages are copies but the thing is they make these watches affordable for a lot of people, myself included, unreachable otherwise.

Steeldive makes good solid daily wear watches. I have their Sub and their Willard homages, and I love them. You’re right about their bracelets… they are kind of hit-or-miss, but it’s nothing that can’t be fixed with a NATO or Zulu strap. And the nice thing about NH35 movements is that they are super easy to regulate yourself… Really digging your channel, BTW. Invicta Pro Diver 4 LYFE! 👍

Thanks for the review. You can find that watch on that Chinese website for about 150. It also comes with a date window or not and either a bracelet, rubber or nato strap. Probably find it on sale or coupon for less if you like Steeldive.

I want a 50F lookalike, but want the DD crystal to be more retro looking, so may end up with the Tandoro, rather than the SD, which is available on the rubber strap these days.

I just recently picked up the SD1970 (Captain Willard homage). It came on a rubber strap which, wasn't comfortable but, also came with the steel bracelet and a signed warranty card. I decided to put it on a NATO strap and it now gets more wrist time than most of my other watches. Steeldive make some great homages for very little cost (most of which is saved on the straps/bracelets) I'm certainly looking at picking up another one soon, this one might well be on the cards.

I was into watches a number of years ago and accumulated about 30 watches, many of them Invictas. I love large watches and some of the ones I have are 50 mm or larger. I have several Invicta Bolt watches and a couple of the Akula line. I have them in gold, rose gold and blue, brown or black bands. Those have garnered the most compliments because they just look gorgeous. I would like to see a review of those Bolt watches. They look unique and range in price from $100+ to very pricey..

I like Steeldive watches, but this watch just does not seem right. The end links and lug fitment seems like an after thought, the alignment is horrendous. The bracelet pins have QC problems. Do not like the pressed clasp. The watch head is very nice, but definitely would go with a nato, waffle, or tropical strap. Good review.
