What an interesting way to make recipes! I tried the Lo Mein variation with a little bit of your fried rice recipe without the msg & cauliflower. Most Chinese people don’t use MSG unless it’s a Chinese restaurant recipe when we make Chinese food. You can use a little bit of oyster sauce (the non organic kind has MSG & organic Oyster sauce doesn’t have MSG) in Asian dishes & a use a spoonful of sesame oil to make fried rice, Lo Mein or other Asian recipes taste more savory. Thanks for all the amazing recipes you post! 😊❤️🙏🏻

For the fried rice and the soup, if you don't want to spend time chopping, you can get a back of frozen mixed vegetables and use that instead. Not as cheap as fresh veggies, but still *relatively* cheap, and saves a lot of time. (And they're just as nutritious as fresh!)

Poached eggs are NOT a pain. They're easy AND fast. In a nonstick skillet, bring an inch or so of water to a boil. Add 1 T. of vinegar. Carefully break an egg into the water. Turn of the heat, cover, and set a timer for 3 minutes. Your egg is done! Personally, I like mine at 3 minutes, 15 seconds.

Try bulgur wheat in you salads, we like to use medium grain sized for salads but fine grain works to. Coarse or extra coarse Bulgur works well to replace rice and pasta as well. See if you can find the Turkish chilli and tomato concentrate paste mild or hot, we discovered it while making various Turkish bulgur recipes and we now use the mild version instead of just tomato concentrate for most recipes. Bulk bulgur, rice, beans and lentals have become our goto for cheap eats, buying in bulk 20kg sacks saves you alot [and is a nice food reserve], yes it can take some planning or use of a pressure cooker but with the use of in season vegetables from the farmers market we eat cheaper and more healthy.

You should make the Navajo breakfast. You need one tortilla, scrambled eggs, bacon, and cut fry potatoes: put the bacon into the eggs and potatoes, then, put the mixed eggs, potatoes, and bacon into the tortilla and roll it up, all so you have the Navajo breakfast burrito.tip if you want you can add mutton.🙂

Have you ever made bagna cauda? This is essentially a garlicky cream reduction sauce and is served with a hunk of bread and raw vegetables. It was a special occasion treat in the midwestern town (US) where I used to reside that had a large Italian American population (my Italian great grandparents were from the Cuneo region of the Piedmont range, but many people had central and southern Italian heritage). While there are variations, the basic (and best) recipe is: one stick butter (not margarine), one pint heavy whipping cream (although, I have used a pint of half & half at times), 3-4 garlic minced cloves (fresh and never from a jar), 3-4 anchovy fillets (a tablespoon of anchovy can suffice; also-don’t worry if you don’t like fish as the garlic is the main flavor), plus a hunk or roll of bakery bread (like baguette or ciabatta) and raw carrot sticks, broccoli, cauliflower, and celery. First: sauté the garlic in the butter until golden, being careful to not let it brown (it starts getting bitter when brown), then adding the heavy cream and anchovy fillets and, stirring occasionally, simmer over low heat until thick/reduced by a fourth. Ladle into bowls and serve with the bread and veggies. The sauce is very rich (and very garlicky), but the raw, fresh veggies undercut the heaviness and bread is just delicious with it. If you haven’t already had this and do try it, I hope you like it (Ps-I’ve seen recipes that call for truffle or olive oil. No-don’t use them)
