I sometimes wish these things are better made, not cheaper and faster, this helps the workers to be in better enviroment, and user also get better products.

Another thing to keep in mind with fast fashion brands like Claire's is that most of their jewelry is usually dipped or copper plated and it's made out of a cheap metal called Cadmium which in children and children overly ingest it it can cause liver toxicity.

Never understood the need to wear gold/diamond to show that you're wealthy. Stop looking at others for validation. That's what we all need to learn.
@DarenKajiWolf9 сағат бұрын
That's almost impossible for many people (Almost most) due to the fact that we are taught and overexposed with TV, social media, and reference form the people that surround us while we grow... So, it's complicated to be critic with the ways of act and living. The expectations and goals are formed with those social interactions/expositions and of course the "influencers" and famous people constantly spamming out loud with just the fit that they wear while doing their videos. It's hard to fight those stimulations and trends. Human is a social being and many schools aren't good enough to try to teach how to have critical literacy... Parents and society aren't gonna let the masses be what they want, just continue with changing or getting back to certain useless trends.

It's beyond disheartening that people are so obsessed with such materialistic vanity items that vast quantities are needed to supply the appetite. It's as if we aren't facing other vastly more important issues that impact our very existence on this planet. Sure, I absolutely adore nice jewelry but I look at this junk and don't understand the utter tackiness. If I can't afford white gold, I'm fine with silver. Semi precious stones are so much more beautiful than cheap giant chunks. Jewelry should enhance not dominate. Still it's a sad statement about younger generations priorities that demand so many vanity items to feel they fit into a society that places such value on appearances. Truly a disposable era. Disposable clothing and accessories that all accumulate "elsewhere". Usually baled and shipped to third world countries where there burned in huge pouting heaps. Only a small amount recyclable.

I solder silver jewelry. I sometimes try to sell it. Yes, it does take a lot of time, plus the cost of legit sterling silver. It hurts when people price compare my quality jewelry to chinese-factory made jewelry at pop-up markets; I can't compete. I haven't tried going to a pop-up market since July (it's December now).

Thank you for working with real silver! I try to find locally hand crafted real silver jewelry and am always disheartened to find out parts are not real silver. On the rare occasion I do find a real silver Smith, I pay the extra cost because it is the only way to guarantee that I won't have an allergic reaction. It makes more sense to have classic pieces of high quality. Fast fashion cheap jewelry stands out and looks bad

It is beyond heartbreaking for all the workers, and it goes beyond starvation wages. As for the toxic materials in the jewelry, we have been made aware of this quite some time ago. Terrifying! Hi! I used to work for an online seller of fashion jewelery located in Bulgaria and we get items from Ali Express. Sometimes there is no indication of the material of the jewelry, so the information is left blank. It will be the customer's decision if he will purchase the item that can be way up the market price based on the quality of the materials it is made of. Therefore, he can be ripped off over a cheap jewelry. Thanks for the documentary DW! It's an eye-opener about the fashion jewelry nowadays! Keep it up! 🎉
@NaturalNails4life12 сағат бұрын
Personally I think fashion jewelery is a waste of money on garbage that holds no value and breaks and tarnishes. Gold which is all I ever buy holds value and can be traded in an emergency situation. No one wise would invest in cheap stuff like that but I suppose millions do! It is insanity if you ask me.

"The Chinese work ethic"...that's hilarious! The workers are expendable cogs in the machine, they make barely any money, and the factories put up nets to keep the workers from leaping to their deaths...that's how nice the work environments are. The worst part is, if these low level workers ever got to be boss, they'd treat the workers just as badly as the bosses they have do. The Chinese "ethics" you need to worry about are the ideas they come up with for cutting corners and making money by cheating. That's their "ethics".
