because before apple decided to remove the standard 3.5mm jack (well no longer standard) these were for a particular consumer and no one else. Now with every other upcoming phone including samsung dropping the 3.5mm these things are no longer a niche market segment. Apple didn't' create them but they create an artificial demand for them out of thin air.

As usual, until apple introduces their version of someone else's idea, it didn't exist and was not needed. I have had a set of BT headphones for about 6 years. Mind you they are over the ear phones, they are comfortable & will run longer on a charge than I have ever had time to listen to music in one setting. And I don't see where the apple air buds look any less stupid than the other white ones that hung out of the ear like someone tore the wires off of a normal set of ear buds.

To be fair, the airpods are probably the best of their form factor. All of the better sounding "earbuds" are IEMs, and actually go inside the ear canal to form a seal. That's why they have better bass. There aren't actually headphones with apple's form factor that actually sound better than the airpods.

Why does no one take into account that recommending in-ear solutions to people who use Earpods is likely useless given that not everyone finds earbuds comfortable? I can't stand ear-buds and no one bothers with good solutions that aren't earbuds. The Aukey pair are also sold under the MPOW name. I have a more recent version which sell under the name mpow wolverine. The battery life lasts a solid 5 hours of non-stop use and the sound is "good enough", especially for the amazing price.

I recently got new wireless ear buds that are so great I'm suprised it wasn't on here. They were the Skullcandy Ink'd wireless. They have an 8 hour battery, sound great with noise isolating. It also has a light weight design. It is connected by a band which looks fine and you barely notice it, and if you don't like it I found it easy to hide. It also has volume buttons on one end of the band, that can also skip tracks. It also lets you know when your music gets to loud. It's easy to turn on and off, and easy to pair. Usually not, I think it can look nice. The cinematographic problem here: B-rolls of a small product (earphones) with prominent, flashy colors on the nails does take away the viewer's focus from what should be the main object to look at. It is distracting. Thus also why you see so many comments on the nails on this and previous videos. Would they be a less prominent color or less flashy pattern, like milk white or subtle pink, it would not trigger (as many) comments and be less distracting. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oJnEamqMbL6cjLsm26s is an example (4:26) with way more nails than product on-screen.

You forget to mention the major point of difference. They are the only ones I’ve found that do not require you to insert those rubber thingys into your ear canal. As a long term wearable, this is much better for you ears, reducing ear wax build up and standing wave problems. Plus they give you more special awareness as you aren’t completely blocking the ear canal.

The best option for bluetooth earphones if you're an audiophile is to get a nice pair of IEMs with detachable MMCX cables then get a bluetooth cable from Shure or Westone. In terms of audio fidelity Apply and Jaybird don't come close to matching this combination.

Some of the less expensive models I've tried have a short pairing range between left and right. Usually less than a foot by line-of-sight with no obstructions. Not enough range to connect ear-to-ear with all that skull and brain matter in the way. Not a deal-breaker in my case, as I listen mostly to spoken-word material and like to keep one ear open, but not so good if you want the stereo effect for music, etc. Might be worth the few extra bucks to guarantee that stereo connection.

I had the Jaybird Freedoms and they sound great when you tweak them with the EQ app, it's a night and day difference, however for me I found them remarkably uncomfortable. Also if you get them use the foam ear plugs with them, they last me maybe a month or two, but again they make them sound so much better and they're more comfortable and make it so they won't ever fall out - at least for me. I've owned all the Jaybird headphones I know about, the X1, X2, X3 and the Freedom and I hate the Freedom and X3 because they're just not comfortable - meanwhile the X1 and X2's sound much much worse, but I can wear them for hours without any discomfort - and since I use them almost exclusively for podcasts and audio books, sound quality isn't a big deal.

I've had three pairs of those Aukey ones, but from 3 different brands. The first were from MMove and were ~$30CAD from a Groupon years ago, they lasted about 5 hours. This pair actually went through the wash once or twice and kept working for months. I can't recall the brand on my second pair, but they did not last more than 3 hours and both sides dies within two months. My current pair is branded as MPow. It is worth mentioning the company called Phaiser and particularly their BHS-530 model. They have life time sweat proof warranty, free worldwide shipping, sound really good (for BT earbuds), extremely comfortable and light weight, and with a battery life of over 5 hours on average and all of that for $70 USD. Yes, not as cheap as some of the options in the video but still way cheaper than the Apple airpods. I use them for my workout sessions and no mater what I do they stay in my ears. Anyone who is on the market for medium priced BT earbuds should check them out.

I bought a set of the Taotronics wireless headphones on amazon for around £20 GBP (Aukey style of headphone with an in line controller). I'm a huge audiophile who's been through SO many headphones (wireless & wired) of a range of good and bad brands. I've found having the wire behind the head can be irritating with the extra cable getting in the way, but the battery life is great for a half day at work or a long cycle ride. I'm really happy with the sound, but don't go very quiet, shame there's no external charging included. They fit amazingly, I would say they would never fall out, but that extra cable will push them out if you can imagine them catching on a jacket when looking up and down.

You're probably not looking for more alternatives as you've already released this roundup, but incase you ever do a similar video, another good (wire between the ears) budget option is the AYL QY8's. I've ordered and returned lots of bluetooth headphones due to poor/unbalanced sound quality, bad ear fit/stability, high wind noise noise, low battery life, and unstable Bluetooth. These are far and away the best I've used in each of the above categories for sub $100, and they're only $25. Only pair I haven't returned or given away.

Being denied bass passages by apples AirPod should be a complaint you should take more seriously when u present these videos for us. Dismissing mediocrity as a mere "preference" as u did in your AirPod review video is intolerable. U should have raised more stink about that. In fact you stated in that review that the bass in the AirPods is "not overly done" as if thats a positive, only to turnaround in this video and prefer the headphones with better bass.

I've been using those Aukey $16 ones for about 3 months now and honestly I love them. So cheap, good sound, good battery, good wireless, feels cheap but is cheap, buttons work.... I have not a single complaint considering the price. If they costed $40 I'd still say they are a good deal.
