As the 2nd Life Bikes guy would say, that bike is “proper crusty.” I’m glad you’re bringing it back to life. Nice video format. Don’t overthink it. No need for background music or other silly fillers. This works.

I'm personally here to see old/trash bikes brought back to life. Your IG Reels on the chrome finished ATB you built up for your cousin(?) were great. But this challenge is unique! Lots of people on the internet are already upgrading vintage bikes. I want to see more content on how to make real rat bikes for people to actually ride, not more gravel conversions. But whatever you decide to do, good luck! I'm rooting for ya.

I really like your video style! I think it shows all the ups and downs really well. A super fast way to get stuck crankcaps off is to go with a slim drill all the way around. It leaves much cleaner threads and you don’t have to deal with a hot crank arm :)

Like the format on how u do ur video's personally i like the uncut versions where u see "crusty threads, bearings etc, being ur first video on youtube, I'd say it was a good watch nice intorduction to urself aswell. Keep at it....If u enjoy it continue even in the low times when you think a video doesnt do so good etc keep the dream alive

Really cool seeing this. I used to get beers at road 34 on dollar beer night and recently got back into bikes and especially retro mountain bikes. Fort Collins is a dope town. I miss the abundance of parts from the co op. Stoked on the whole bike build off!

Those cranks have an unique bcd. It seems similar to the TA Specialtite with a 50.8 bcd. Very cool you should use them. Also, you should tell use about the vintage parts. Thanks for the video.

I really like the multiple angles. Too many people just put the camera in one place and go. I recommend that you do a little more talking about the actual build, and some of the skills needed for tearing down the bike. I’m liking your description of the front double U brake, that hammer on the quill stem, your three step bearing cleaning and the grease packing method. That’s really good stuff. A tip a picked up from the Bike Farmer, polish the frame with Pledge or any other furniture polish on sale. Plus the waxy coating keeps the WD-40 in place.

Loved the video dude! Cool you’re from Madison, and the bike was from Budget! I used to work there and now live in Colorado too. Cheers to Road 34, BBC, and cheap bike builds! One thing I really like while watching build videos is when they do voice overs, like Gary’s projects. I think it allows you to talk through the process but a little cleaner. Keep up the great work man!

@paulywogtheburnin8r364
@paulywogtheburnin8r364 Жыл бұрын
@@mull3tmechanic Huh, I didn’t know that. I wonder if they did it because of the triple triangle or something. I also have a late 80s Fisher Hookooekoo with the below the chainstay brakes like you’re talking about. Interesting technology. I recently replaced the brake pads on the GT and just used some V-Brake pads with some washers on either side of the caliper arms. I kept the original pads because I though they were cool and unique.

Good start. Audio tip (I am a sound recordist) just wear the mig the whole time for the best clean audio. When you hold in your hand, the signal is to hot & distorts. It’s a pet hate of mine from content creators. Louder audio isn’t always better. You want a clean consistent level. Loving your content, your style will develop itself, don’t force it, just be natural. 🤘🏼

Concerning crank set. Other than no extractor/dust cap threads, is there any thing else wrong with cranks (other than being dented/scratched by hammering)? They look like 50.4 BCD cranks. Are they riveted, or bolted? Thanks

I'm building a BMX lowrider show bike, I got 3 sprocket freewheel and 3 speed in front. I'm building a blue and white Flatlander BMX at the same time. It costs me about the same to build as to get something from a bike shop but mine bikes have better parts and they are much prettier. I haven't built one in ten years but I'll be at car or bike shows in Farmington, Aztec, and probably Cortez and Durango. I can't do the cheap bike build yet when I have 2 others going.
