hello!
so a new year and a new start!
been a few months since my last confession 😜
so with it being another lockdown I thought it would be fun to make a fusion of my cheap cider and jam wine recipes to make a black berry fruit cider using jam!
I'm using bramble jelly as it's already filtered and can be used in a demijohn with no mess.

Nice. So you don't use a bung or bubble thingy? I would just be worried about losing some alc from oxygen getting in. assume you just release tension a couple of times a day? I love your approach. I do the same except I use wild yeast and reuse the sediment.. 🙂👍

The best thing about this channel, is, how random the produce is, from which, brews are made. Next week, we'll be making a wine from a packet of old starburst I found down the back of the sofa... Love it. P.S. You sound too posh to have money worries.

@@makinghomebrewwildandcheap if you can get your act together with the channel, I think you could make it very popular. Because it's fun. The fact that it isn't stuffy about brewing. But production needs to be better, especially to pull the younger crowds in. Anyway. All the best.

Heeey m8, sooo glad to see you! Hope you are doing well) Thanks to your channel, I also started homebrewing (well, at least I'm trying to experiment...). At the moment I am using turbo yeast (alcotec 48) to make the simplest sugar alcohol. In just 5 days ~ 20% alcoholic beverage is obtained. However, I ran into a problem - the yeast does not precipitate at all. Even after 10-15 days, the drink is still cloudy white. Is there a way to get rid of yeast without using mash clarifiers? I tried to increase the acidity of the mash with hibiscus, lemon juice, citric acid - and it did not help. It seems that this yeast is very tenacious not only in alcohol - but also in an acidic environment ... There was an idea to use bentonite - but I'm afraid that clay particles may get into the finished product, and ultimately lead to health problems...Thanks in advance and I'm really glad you haven't abandoned this channel)

Hey, yeah turbo yeast is renowned for being a royal pain in the arse. It usually ends up getting a stuck fermentation if the temperature is off. There's plenty you can try before using chemical finnings. Gelatin, egg white, baked egg shells. Cold crashing to name a few. Bentonite clay isn't anything to worry about. It has no negative health issues related to it. To me it sounds like fermentation has stalled so you may want to try putting it somewhere warmer. It's opposite to the normal advice but worth a try before moving on to more drastic measures 👍

Great to see you back lee!! This will be my next project. If i was to mix this with 5ltrs of water would it be down to 5/6% like a normal fruity cider?
@makinghomebrewwildandcheap
@makinghomebrewwildandcheap 3 жыл бұрын
Hey, you could water it down. The flavours would also be diluted. Instead You could just use 1 jar of the jam of you're choice making it around 7%. Being the 1st video in a while I wanted to make sure it it would be a taste explosion :)

Love your vids, man. Big inspiration. Look, I got myself a jar of cane molasses and a jar of barley malt extract. Do you have any suggestions what to do with it?
@makinghomebrewwildandcheap
@makinghomebrewwildandcheap 3 жыл бұрын
hey, :P the barley malt makes a pretty decent porter style beer as i found out, the molassas makes an interesting brew on its own but i personally like it for kvass ( fermented bread ) or as an additive to give things like cider a little spice as it can be pretty overpowering on its own. :)

@@makinghomebrewwildandcheap great to hear the one good thing with lockdown is brewing time. I've been making ciders and using those ice-cream syrups in them. They're a perfect, ready mixed selection of fruit extracts and sweeteners to make a decent cider. Also maple syrup!!
