hello im have made a custom battery pack using 3s 18650 (3 cell, almost 12v). I have also made the balanced lead (white connector ) for charging with b3 charger. when i connect the battery to the charger, the 3 leds are always red, but i have chrged that battery pack to full before. those led where red for long time. what is the problem i cant understand please help

Tigger, once again, thank you for the very well explained video on these balance chargers. We now have three 7.4v 2200mAh batteries and the standard Syma charger with output at 10v 800mAh, so it does take a good two hours plus per battery to fully charge. Long time to wait around on a calm day. Looking at Amazon, the price for the larger, professional charger seems like a better deal. Thanks again.

Glad it helped Mark, just make sure you get Genuine Original ones, lot of fakes around for iMAX and I would assume others, pro charger is the way to go but these small ones seem to do a good job on balancing. You will love flying longer, nothing beats it ;-)

The more premium/ expensive battery chargers have inbuilt storage mode to 3.7/3.8V. The budget chargers, charge to 4.2V only?

at 02:11 thought the 610mah is the capacity of the battery not the charging rate, the battery is capable of throwing out say 10 amps but would only last a few minutes so thought it would be capable of taking 800mah or even more say 1Ah.

I had the same type charger under a different name, which was also quite accurate. Unfortunately in a moment of inattention I tried to connect the battery balance lead upside down into the charger, while it didn't plug in because of the lugs it did allow a connection which shorted out the charger. I usually turn the power on after the balance lead is plugged in but as I said, a moment of inattention/brainlessness. The lights on the charger still worked but I think one red and two green while not charging. They would all turn red when charging but did not balance charge and created a dangerous in balance and overcharge on one cell. I was keeping a close eye on it but wanted to see what would happen after the short, (1 cell was 4.4v & still charging!) Something to be aware of as I would of hoped there would be some kind of safeguard/circuit breaker to prevent the charger from working after the short circuit. Cheers again for great review.

Yes, it should be safe but it is still important to charge your batteries on an inflammable surface.

Thank you for making all these reviews: very informative and helpful for someone starting out! I have already ordered a couple of low voltage alarm beepers and was just about to get myself one of these cheap balance chargers when I noticed the 1.5A output current for 2 cells. If that's unchangeable, am I right in thinking this would be no good (dangerous!) for charging a 1300mah 2S battery for my JJRC X1? So far I've been using the basic charger that came with it, but I suspect the balance is off (I'll find out when the voltage readers arrive!) Many thanks.

Tigger you have an Imax B6 charger is this the only charger you use to balance the cells when you put the battery into storage mode? Do you have other hobby chargers if so which one do you prefer to use for that job.

Technically those cheap B3 chargers doesn't balance, it's just 3 independent chargers and it will try to charge each cell to 4.2V and stops when C/10, so you'll have the max capacity for each cell but in no way it is balanced, it will however prevent overcharging a cell compared to a simple series charger

question - i have an odd battery that came with my remote car - it looks like its a 3cell battery with total of 9.6V - i tried to replace it with a standard 3cell battery which is 11.1v - my remote car worked fine but after maybe 5 minutes it started to produce a little bit of smoke. is there any way to reduce voltage on the 11.1v battery to match 9.6v that the car needs? This way i can still use standard 11.1v batteries?

Hi The battery you removed is another type of battery. It's not lipo. Lipo comes in 3.7 7.4 and 11.1 and so on. The one you removed would by nik cad 8 cell battery it gives 1.2 volts per cell

those buzzers are so handy!! i hear them beeping when my speedboat is 200-300 m out on the water!! i have a cheap charger aswell, but it charges just great. only downside is that it doesn't charge a 1s lipo :/

at 2:16 is not a correct information, you can charge a lipo like that one at more than 2a with no problems

Nope it only chargers what the battery needs, hence you can charge them from any state, ie half charge, full discharge, storage etc ;-)

Hi Tigger, I noticed you had a Hubsan H502E battery (7.4v 610mAh 15c) earlier in the video. I bought an H502E recently but unfortunately the USB charger packed up after the second charge (maybe I did something wrong :( ). I was wondering if the B3AC (a IMAX B3AC ) would be a suitable replacement charger as I need one quickly and have found these being sold in the UK on eBay. I'm worried about the balance charge current as it's 800mA/cell and the batteries are 610mAh. Many thanks for help.

Hello. Week ago I ordered Bugs 2 B2W(red). What additional charger you advise to buy from those 3 cheaper which are exposed? With quad I think will come such one you got at Bugs 2 B2C(USB charger at 500mA). So this will be quite slow charging. Eachine charger have written: Charging current: 800MAH-1000MAH imaxRC B3 and B3 20W Balance Charger have written output at 1,6A. Probably one of those 2 lasts should fit, cause Bugs 2 B2W using 1800mAh battery. Or is safer to use Eachine charger? Thank you.

Nice choice of quad ;-) guessing you seen my video on iMax B6, if not take a look. Hobby grade charger is going to charge fast, my B6 can go to 4.0amps someone said the latest one goes to 5.0amps.

I would do one at a time as far as I know it can't balance charge 2 at once how could it control it :~) If someones knows it can then great, just my understanding of how it works. Guess you could try it by monitoring every so often and see if it achieves what 4.2v per cell. One last thought it won't charge it any quicker as it only puts out 1.5amp on 2s. Hope that helps cheers

I don't know if it works like the IMAX B6 in the way you need a positive, negative and balance charge cable, if so I 'm not sure it will charge the X300 battery. With the skyrc charger you can limit the current 0,1-6 amps .Just set it to 400ma I don't have that small batteries I charge my 5000mah battery's with 5 amps
