I live in VietNam where the rain can flood, the hills are high and the local cops are forgiving if they see you on the road. My ATV is a work vehicle, rather than toy. Being in electronics, I fitted a tilt-sensor system that slows the engine in the event the ATV is cornered too fast, also if the vertical movement (terrain too rough, or a wheel(s) loses contact with the ground) the engine speed is reduced. I fitted a 360-degree SJCAM, on a vertical rod to the rear of the driver to record my activities. I had my ATV 'wrapped' when the 'bodywork' paint was worn through otherwise the rust is minimum.

I have a cheap ATV and 125 pit bike and I love them the bike is 9 years old and runs mint I've have Honda but these are way cheaper and if you take card of it they last I dont give a shit what anyone says

Good for riding around the yard. I trail ride most week ends and I haven't seen more than a handful of Chinese quads on the trails the frames are just too weak to handle the beating. And the suspension is horrible. But I own two as well. Are for driving around back roads

I had a 110cc automatic when i was very young and i sold it to the neighbors kids and it still alive over 10 years on it and its still mintish Now i have a 125cc peace moto dirtbike and thats some next level shit I abuse and beat the crap out of that machine from jumps mud and overall abuse but i always have its maintenance strict and on time Been with it for a year and a half or so

From my experience these things are ok for the price and one thing I learned personally since they are automatics you need to come to a full stop before shifting to neutral reverse etc

that would be somewhat obvious for all transmissions, ours is a chinese clone too and it has a lever on the side for reverse. Its almost impossible to do it while in motion.

Love how people automatically assume it's junk because it's not a big name brand machine. I have one I use for hunting. This is the third season. I use it in mud, hills, carrying deer and hogs out. I have never had any issues. A lot of these manufacturers really up the price because they know people will pay for a name. These units are really cheap because it's far cheaper to make things in china. When my unit wears out. I will not hesitate to buy another.

My cheap Chinese quad is just like your. After a year. It’s been nothing but problems. Biggest problem is the chain. It won’t say on it. Now the chain has come off from the gear box. It is becoming impossible to put back on. Any tips with taking the whole thing apart

Crazy ATV rider Brand New, they retail for about $1,400-$1,800, and you can often get them for about $1,100 or less out the door. I'd recommend finding a dealer though, that way its fully assembled, and it makes it easy to get parts that are guaranteed to fit. Just make sure to keep an eye out for loose bolts, I'd recommend using LOC-TITE on the bolts. Also, on most, but not all of the 200CC and 250CC models, the engine will have a manual clutch, so you have to use the clutch lever when you shift (like an old Motorcycle).

the pedal is in all quads with reverse, both automatic and semi-automatic, to change between reverse, neutral and forward

@@MiniBikesStore nope, some Quads have a gear shift lever like a car or a an electrically engaged reverse that requires you to put the transmission in a neutral position with the foot lever, then engage reverse with a switch or button that sends power to a solenoid that engages reverse gear as long as the button is depressed. On models with a automotive style gearshift for reverse but are not automatic or semi automatic you usually must use foot shift lever to put transmission in neutral then select either forward or reverse with the automotive style hand lever, and then release the hand lever that controls the clutch. Having been around for about 40 years and not having the controls for gear selection standardized in all that time.( By contrast all motorcycles sold in the US have had a foot lever on the left side, and clicking it up results in the next higher gear ratio, and a left hand actuated clutch lever if a manual type engage/disengage is used, since 1976 when that arrangement became legally required) Without similar standardization we have seen just about every imaginable configuration of gear ratio and directional controls possible on Quads.

quad bike refers to the fact you sit on it as a bike and it has 4 wheels, so it is a two wheel drive quad bike. the modern term for a 4 wheel vehicle you sit in is a buggy and there are 2 and 4 wheel drive buggies as well

The term "Quad" or "Quad bike" is a reference to it having 4 wheels, not being 4wd. When these first started to become popular in the motorsports industry 3 wheelers like Hondas ATC and Big Red products as well as 3 wheeled ATVs from Kawasaki, Yamaha, and Suzuki were still being produced. The term ATV( All Terrain Vehicle ) at that time could be used when talking about either 3 or 4 wheeled vehicles that had a motorcycle style seating position. The term Quad or Quad bike was used by manufacturers and dealers to distinguish 4 wheeled ATVs from 3 wheeled ATVs, not only to avoid confusion, but to distance the image of 4 wheeled ATVs from the rapidly growing image that 3 wheelers had developed as " Death Machines " that were so unstable and prone to flipping they had to be banned in order to protect the consumers from serious injury or death. While 3 wheeled ATVs ridden improperly irresponsibly were certainly at a higher risk of flip over type accident, 4 wheeled ATVs are not immune from these accidents if ridden in the same manner. Manufacturers and dealers knew that consumer safety groups and even insurance companies wanted importation and sales of new 3 wheeled ATVs banned and had been lobbying Congress to enact legislation to do just that. In fact, that entire situation is likely why 4 wheeled ATVs were developed to begin with, sensing the impending loss of a large part of their product line to have a market in which to sell that product they developed a new product similar enough to appeal to those who liked the 3 wheeled ATVs but different enough that proper marketing could prevent them from being rolled into a ban that would make all ATVs illegal to import or sell in the US. Part of that marketing strategy was to make sure that it was seen as a different product and that difference was the addition of a 4th wheel. In 1983 if you told someone you wanted an ATV, their mind immediately pictured a 3 wheeler and all the images of injuries and death reported by the media and you would hear an hour of them telling you how dangerous ATVs are and how owning one basically means you will soon be dead or paralyzed from the neck down. If you told them you were going to get a Quad, they probably asked, " What is a Quad?" This marketing strategy, combined with some lobbying of their own to assure legislators that Quads are different and much safer, and not vigorously fighting the legislation that did in fact get signed banning 3 wheeled ATVs is why we still have 4 wheeled ATVs today.

@@sirtubemaster having been a teenager who lived through that era, and having a passion for motorcycles, 3 wheelers, Quads, go carts, etc... and watching 3 wheelers go from being all the rage to being banned due to outrage, and worrying that Quads might be banned as well which would mean I'd likely never own one, I followed these events closely. I also believe now as I did then that motorcycles, especially dirtbikes marketed towards anyone under 16 and Sportbikes (this was the era that gave rise to the modern Sportbike with the release of the Kawasaki Ninja, and other bikes meant to emulate roadracing bikes ridden by professional racers) and at that time the US seemed to be experiencing a wave of safety Nazis, and lawsuits over product liability. If those early Quads had been banned as well the entire motorsports industry would probably be very different today if it existed at all in the US. Remember this was also at a time when their were groups lobbying Congress to create restrictions for music based on lyrics and even "Messages through Backmasking of records" ( Supposedly some vinyl record albums could be spun by hand backwards on the record player and you would hear Satanic or sexually explicit lyrics) and their were Congressional hearings on the dangers of violence in Bugs Bunny or Roadrunner cartoons and some parents wanted cartoons like those banned. It was an sad time when many people seemed to feel that decisions regarding safety or children would be best left to Politicians instead of it being a personal/parental responsibility. Tragically Ihink we are now seeing that same way of thinking starting to become prevalent again so if you value the ability to choose your own level of acceptable risk or how you raise your children, and want your children to have the same freedoms then keeping tabs on lobbyists and legislators will be crucial.

Hi. Thanks for video. I just got one like this on trade....is it like a Trail Rover 250 or something like that? I have cleaned carb and it wasn't doing it when I first received it. After sitting for about a month it now sounds like it has a studder box or rev limiter but if so its coming on at too low of a RPM. You just can't get into it no more without it skipping terribly. I think I checked and the main jet needle isn't adjustable but will be pulling carb back off unless u message me telling me to look somewhere else for the problem. I would appreciate anything you can tell me to get this atv running good again. No matter whether in neutral or in gear, it sputters bad 3/4 throttle. Thanks in advance.

take apart your current ignition switch and follow the wires, ali express has all parts for these things. Mine was a 4 cable and I had the key but it was very glitchy. Replacement 4 cable was only 4$ shipped on aliexpress

The prev owner wired it to where the kill switch works, start button doesn't, but it has a HUGE momentary pushbutton to crank it. Check this.....I would be kinda ok with that but the switch isn't engaging the starter solenoid, it's sending 12v through the pushbutton straight to the starter!?!?....smh. I am going to have to do similar to what you said and find the wires. I hear about all the 200-300cc China ATVs had same wiring harness with same color wires. I am guessing its going to be a 4-wire, possibly a 3-wire ignition switch since its got headlights that come on if engine isn't running. It seems like red and black close together to start, green and black/white in off position. I was just hoping to find someone that had one and could tell me the # and colors of wires at the ignition switch and find a switch made for a China Trail Rover 250. I hope this makes sense.....I'm guessing there's an issue with the left hand controls assembly or a wire going to it, the reason the start button, headlights don't work and he wired like that???

@@dgmenace73 The 4 plug keyed ignition usually has 2 leads for the on/off to the cluster and electronics, and the other 2 wires are separate to the ignition coil so its not shorted out. Honestly just order a 3 and 4 ignition switch, they are super cheap on aliexpress and even with the ghetto setup they have on there now, you can take the leads and connect them to the ignition. Mine still has a standalone start button, the key ignition just runs the electronics to run, it doesnt start the motor. The china quads use a scooter handlebar setup so I think mine is a horn button for Start, kill switch is the signals left or right = stop motor. Ignition switch doubles up. I guess it comes down to what your goal is for the keyed switch, just for fun ? because theft isnt really that big of a worry for most. I leave my keys in the ignition so I dont lose them.

@@oneeyedrone4293 I already bought a 4 wire from AllieExpress and yes, I don't like their new setup...so many ads, etc but they are definitely cheap in cost. I got a 19 wire left controls for a HiSun 700 ATV that's road legal for $45, they are over $100 elsewhere. I just have to find the ignition wires. The previous owner REALLY taped and covered everything. I found out why too. There was a wire broken inside the left control switch assembly. I guess it wouldn't start and he wired with that crazy pushbutton and the switch has already started melting......never seen anyone use a switch straight from battery to starter....lol. I plan on taking all tape off so I can find the wires that go to ignition switch (supposed to go to ignition switch).....I found a schematic for a 200cc China and wire colors that I can see match. I appreciate your help. Thanks
