I just purchased this exact setup same Petco bubbler, 2 bigger stones for bottom of bucket, and two bubblers in a painters mesh bag with the compost. I am using Steer Manure Compost and Chicken Manure and added 2 tablespoons of Molasses to the water for the bacteria to eat. Bubbler is going as I type this and the flies came from no where so must be a good thing. I am trying to feed some good food to some outdoor Cannabis plants and Citrus trees. The plants are thankful for your tips and so am I!

Am putting in a 20 x 30 giving garden with 18 4 x 4 raised garden beds. How large a container of tea do you think we would need, and how often do you apply the tea? This is great info!

FYI: Vitamin C powder, ascorbic acid, immediately converts both chlorine and chloramine into nontoxic stuff. You can take tablets and crush them, or capsules and empty them. It doesn't take much-- 1 gram of pure ascorbic acid is said to convert 50 gals, I use it in my animals' water, flower vase water, etc. Some shower filters use Vit C. Use the ascorbic acid form, not the buffered forms.

I'm so glad you live in the PAC NW. I live in Eureka, and I'm afraid of the salty sea breeze messing with my tomatoes. Wrapped my homemade cage with plastic wrap. Do you do the same for yours?

How about instead of buying a bag, use an old sock or pantyhose or knee socks made out of pantyhose. To fill , use a plastic or paper cup with the bottom cut out. Stick the narrow part of the cup with the end that you cut out into the sock opening. Then fill the sock with the compost and use elastic or just tie the pantyhose opening into a simple half hitch knot. Then submerge into the water.

5 gals is all you need. Dilute it down as needed to apply it to all your beds. You can do it as often as your want. I would do it once a month, or every two weeks as you want. I do compost tea once a month and two weeks later I spray with fish fertilizer and liquid seaweed. I hope this helps.

1% by weight = 1g/liter. you add that solution to water at 7ml/liter to reach the final concentration. the half life of the reaction is about 4 minutes, so it should be ready in about 15 minutes.
@GardenFrugal11 жыл бұрын
You can't burn the plants. You could dump the whole 20 liters on one plant if you wanted to. 20 liters could cover 1 acre. You can dilute down to whatever you need to be able to spread it. I leave it and just water around my plants with it.
@niels1voo12 жыл бұрын
You can use Vitamin C to get rid of the chloramine. 1000mg/40 gallons. Mix a 1% solution to keep it handy, then add 7ml/liter (~2Tbsp/gallon) to reduce the chloramine.

After just 24 hours the chlorine will be evaporated out, or use the air-stones and pump for 1 hour. :)
