What type of patron do you need to get tarirpens from you when you have them. I don’t know where to get them for a reasonable price everywhere is charging $220 for one. Also tried reptile expo non in my area.

Yes! I have as well. They work beautifully. Need a bigger filter? Get a stronger pump! They're scale-able

Thanks for sharing! I'm going to need a good filter in a 40gal soon and maybe I can just build my own!

What you make will probably be much more efficient and cheaper than factory made! Look up make your own filters on YT. The "FishTube" community even uses big 55 gallon plastic trash cans as filter systems! Or, take a pill bottle sized filter for a tiny shrimp tank! You areclimited only by your imagination! Good luck!!

Excellent point about the 55gal drums. I'm going to be getting some space and more ponds hopefully soon, and that will be my main filtration idea!

@@DanTheTurtleMan_ Cool!! Thats my intention when we do our pond too. Then have a natural/bamboo cane screen to hide it behind the waterfall.

To slow flow you can put some soft media over/ in the outlet. Great DIY 😊

I find myself making filters out of everything and anything. Impotent to remember too much suction can drown babies so spread out the water intakes so it won't be like a vacuum cleaner to small stuff.

Excellent point Fred. I actually thought of that filter you made for your snapper hybrid out of that little critter keeper box when doing this one!

So online the general consensus I've seen is that you want 2x filtration per gal of water for turtles, so if you have a 20 gal tank you want a 40 gal filter. With DIY how would you know how many gallons it does? Would it be based on the strength of your pump?
@DanTheTurtleMan_3 жыл бұрын
Yes, exactly that. It's based entirely off of the pump, even the store bought ones base the ratings for the tank off of pump size!
