A cheap drugstore dupe for the Kat Von D Shade & Light palette? I'm comparing a similar palette recently released from Makeup Revolution in this side by side application and showing you a gorgeous fall makeup tutorial in the process! At the end of the video I've also included the results after a 10 hour wear test so you can make the decision for yourself. Will the Makeup Revolution palette compare to the Kat Von D palette or no?

I held off a LONG time buying this, for the same exact reason. And boy, was I ever wrong. These are the best blending shadows I have ever used in my 50 years of life, and I have worked back of more than one department store counter, too. If you have the dosh, I would highly recommend trying them.

mommafletch... I agree! I held off buying this because it's such a boring mix of colors. I gave in and bought it a few months ago. OMG, the best palette ever! I had a hard time at first because I didn't know how to blend them and I was using the wrong (cheap) brushes. After buying 3 new Sephora brushes and watching YT videos, no other palette compares in pigment and blending. Totally worth the splurge and it will last a long time💄

For the whole "one side looks better" saying, i believe it has something to do with what hand is dominant. I'm a lefty, so when i do my makeup my left side looks better than my right. Has anyone else made that connection?

Way to go, Makeup Revolution! I'm all for a good dupe 🙌💕🙆! As for guessing the "right" eye, at the end result it was VERY hard to choose, however, while you were doing the transition color, the Makeup Revolution shadow, in my opinion, was less pigmented (but once again, the final look was quite THE SAME in both eyes) GORGEOUS ❤❤❤ !

I guessed right! The pigmentation and blendability gave it away. From the moment you used the very first shade I knew. Also, the KVD palette is my most favorite ever AND i always do your "everyday look with the kvd" which is all the shades you used minus that reddish-brown shade before the place yellow.

This is so exciting! I couldn't tell a difference. I've been wanting the KVD palette for a long time and now I don't have to buy it because this is so much less expensive. I can't imagine why anyone would pay that high price tag when there are things like this for so much less. You made my day!

I couldn't tell. On the first shade, I thought KVD was on the left, but then with the last shade, I thought it was on the right. Everything in the middle was so similar. Amazing! I own the KVD Shade and Light and love it! I don't wear makeup very frequently, so it's a great staple to have around when it's time to put on some face.

I guessed right too!! To me, what gave it away was she had to work with application just a little bit more with her left eye v right. Also, when she applied the lighter shade on the right eyelid you could see a slight shimmer in the color. One more thing, don't know if anyone noticed, but the colors on her right had a slightly richer look! Great job with your eye's Zabrena!! If you didn't say you were using different palettes in the beginning and then told us at the end, then I wouldn't have noticed! I love how makeup artists are able to select different colors and make them into beautiful masterpieces!!💕👏

for me, I took into account that those transition shades from the makeup revolution side were a lot less pigmented but as the other colors were layered on top it became harder and harder to tell them apart! awesome dupe!

I could tell which was which because it looked like you were struggling a little more to apply the product. But the end result looked identical.

YEP! That's the thing about KVD eyeshadow, it's the texture. There's nothing like them for blending. Other shadows might have the pigment, but these blend so effortlessly. I could pick it out right away, too.

The first shade gave it away. The orange on the makeup revolution lean more towards yellow tones but the rest of the shades omg were amazing!

Hey Zabrena!! Great comparison! I saw that on the KAT VON D side, the orange shade was a bit more pigmented and the cream color was a tad shiny, but once they were all blended and ready for the lashes to be applied, BOTH sides were amazing!! So far, Makeup revolution Cosmetics have looked so good in the reviews!! I have my higher end, luxury makeup but, I'm not wealthy, so......I've tried a few of their products. I really like their highlighter, I've even bought it as stocking gifts at Christmas! I have not tried the KVD shade and light palette yet, but I think I'll try the MUR now!! 💜💜Torie

I guessed it right! The Makeup Revolution eyeshadows were slightly less pigmented. But very slightly. And on the pale yellow shade on the inner part of your eyelid on the Kat von D side has a slight sheen to it with the MUR side being more matte. But no way to tell at the end when it is finished. So pleased you did this comparison, I live in the UK and can buy MUR at Superdrug. I was waiting to see if this palette was decent. And it is!

I guessed right because the KVD eyeshadows looked more pigmented and vibrant when you were applying them. The MR ones were less pigmented and seemed harder to blend. I already own the KVD palette and unfortunately MR isn't available in my country but I think is a very affordable and decent dupe. Great to see options in the drugstore that are close in quality to the original.

This was actually one of the easiest ones of these type of videos for me to guess. The KVD transition shade is a bit darker and the red shade looked a little more pigmented. Still the Makeup Revolution looks like an amazing alternative. I love these videos ☺️

I guessed, but that's because I've used KVD's stuff before. Not this particular palette, but I know that her colours are SUUUPER pigmented, and that they blend very nicely. Your right eye in this video, I found that you were using less product and that it was blending easier. But this is most definitely a VERY good dupe. Thanks for the comparison.

I guessed with the FIRST color because of the depth of pigment and the ease of blending. Almost changed my mind after you blended more colors in, because both seemed just as pigmented and looked to blend equally well. And the light shade you put on last? WOW! The Makeup Revolution side was SUPER pigmented and THEN I was SURE I was wrong!! BUT, I stuck with my original guess. Definitely will look for which drugstore carries the Makeup Revolution brand! Haven't seen it at Walmart, not Walgreens, (but I haven't looked specifically for the brand there either), and I don't go into the CVS much. But I'll go look next time I'm in the "big" city! Z, I LOVE your Frugal Fridays and I LOVE all of your tutorials! Even though I'm a bit older, (Ok, a LOT older) than you, I've still learned a great deal from you. I know Ulta carries some of MUR's products. You may have to buy on-line. I get caught up on where a product is manufactured, so I don't always jump on the less-expensive brands. Not good for my purse! Take Care!

Got it! The revolution shadows were not going on as pigmented. Once you got them all on, I could not tell you had two different brands on. And like you, I do one eye better than the other. LOL

Guessed right! KVD was just slightly more pigmented. Though since it is discontinued, prices on eBay are extreme! Same with KVDs Eyeshadow Quad in Fawn. Will check out this one.
