Been doing this for years, never occurred to me to do a video on it, duh! I add a straw of powdered creamer and a straw of sugar to my food pack (one end sealed, the other folded over & secured with a ring of excess straw so it can be opened). They're good for about 3 cups. Nice job John!

Why, in 35 years of camping, have I never thought of this option?! It's simple but brilliant! Thanks for sharing. You've just made my future camping trips (at least the bits involving hot beverages) much more enjoyable.

Good tip John. Folgers does make a tea bag style single serving coffee bag but I like you would prefer to make my own. Thanks for sharing. Enjoy & be safe !

John. Folgers sells tea bag type coffee bags both in regular and decaff. I have been using them for some time now. Your way is probably cheaper per cup though.

John--I have used an hic snap tea ball infuser with good success. Works on the same principal as your bag, but doesn't need a new bag each time. Just make sure you have no coffee between the halves, so no leakage.

Has anyone tried using one of those tea dipper contraptions for coffee before? The best part about this one is that you could keep the filter afterwards, dry it out, and then use it as a fire starter, I bet!
@bobbyharper87109 жыл бұрын
alaskankare I use a collapsible drip funnel with a filter and love how fast a cup of coffee can be made. Water just before boiling is the perfect temperature.

This is a great tip John; kills the MSR mugmaté filter! However, the clincher for me with regards to making backcountry coffee is cleanup. It's no big deal to throw the used grounds into a ziplock, but on longer trips, I have 2 coffees per day, 4 if you count my hiking partner. That's a lot of soggy grounds adding up, and a smelly attractor for beasties. I have found that "astrobucks" instant is about the best tasting while still being instant. I also add a Dark Chocolate Cocoa packet for TRAIL MOCHA. Are we not civilized?

See I love my instant coffee and creamer and sweet n low but I don't want to drag all that into the woods... I take medicine bottles and fill them the same as I would my cup at home in the morning. Then simply take some Teflon tape wrap the threads of the bottle twice making it and air/water tight bottle. At camp its as quick as pouring the bottle contents then hot water in my cup... Love your idea but that 2 minutes is so long to wait LOL keep them coming brother good to see some content coming on the channel.
