Thank you so munch for the idea probably gonna build it out of steel as i live in the midwest and only fish in fresh water

Hey no problem It will probably be a lot sturdier with steel. Good Luck

Thanks Boss I knew I would bust my but the way I was climbing in and out at the ramp, putting a foot on the crank post and hanging onto the trolling motor pad that I would hurt myself eventually. Priced the ready made stuff and was sticker shocked for what you get. Thanks for the comment.

Great idea! I've been racking my brain on how to do something exactly like this. Awesome! 👍👍👍

Hope it works out for you You might want to consider putting a double main runner it does have a little twist in it. It doesnt bother me. ( Im around 220lbs). when I crawl up it. Also I have been thinking about a handle but havent had the time or motivation yet. Thanks for the feed back Good Luck

Great idea! I'm going to give it a shot, some of these step systems or going for $400 plus. Thanks!
@saltwater48924 жыл бұрын
Yea when I priced them it was crazy and most of them would rust.. One suggestion you might want to come up with is a support grab bar. I have a trolling motor pad I grab to make sure I dont fall. Also make sure you use the grip tape.

Looks great!! What thickness aluminum angle did you use?? Looks like 1/4” or 3/8” … would you thicken it after using it for awhile?? Thanks
@saltwater48922 ай бұрын
I got a thick as I could find from Lowes. Ill check for you. Yes I would like it thicker but so far it has held up. Im 210lbs. It flexes but but not bad and so far it hasnt bent yet. I thought about doubling the main angle iron at one time but like I said so far it is holding up for what I need.
@saltwater48922 ай бұрын
To be honest it looks like 1/8 x 2 inch. Hope this helps

Awesome...... Depends on how big you are you might want to double up on the main angle alum. Im 220 it flexes with me but never had a problem with bending.

Looks good I would have loved to see you climbing on and off though
@saltwater4892 Жыл бұрын
Yea might later, Will post it if I do. I dont have any fancy camera equipment tripods etc. All I have is a phone. Im about 215-220 and it does have a little flex side to side. But holds good with me. I need to build a hand rail, been fishing and working no time yet. I have a trolling motor mount on bow that I grab and stable myself with. So far no issues. I do feel like a hand rail of some sort would be better. (future) I just take my time.

Thanks I do also most of the time or have to trailer the boat by myself. Only improvement I would do is a handle system. Might do one later this year when I get some time. Good luck and Good Fishing.
@MrSki-tyvm Жыл бұрын
If it works for you, then that's all. I'm a bit older and need more stability so I just bought my metal and welded my own steps with a grip pole. I do have my steps anchored on 2 points, trailer frame and bow roller strut. Any how, making getting in and off your boat is a painas you get older.
@saltwater4892 Жыл бұрын
Awesome. I was trying to do something non welding at first. I can weld but a lot of splatter with alum. I only have a mig welder at this time. Yea I need and want to add a ladder or support I have to redo the ladder because I need to move the boat forward some. Maybe this winter after fishing. You should post it.

Hey thanks for sharing! Reading through the comments, I see 1/8 thickness .. can you tell me the leg length? or the angle length? Thanks!
@saltwater48922 жыл бұрын
Hey the riser is 3 ft step 7 inch and 2 inch angle I got the biggest and thickest lowes had. Im 220lbs it does have a small twist or flex with me on it but no perm bend For the length I just made the angle (riser) to be comfortable when climbing.
@evanrager24624 жыл бұрын
Could you tell me how thick, thickness of the alum angle iron you used? Did it seem to hold weight Ok and not flex.? Thank you
@saltwater48924 жыл бұрын
Hey man sorry for delay it looks like 1/8 thickness I got the heaviest gauge the had also depending on you size you might want to double up on main runner I'm 215 and it flexes on me doesn't bend just flexes when I'm on it
@saltwater48924 жыл бұрын
Yes does flex some but not enough to bother me
