nice vid. I'm planning on making one of these in the next week or 2, and getting it up on the tubs! Thanks for sharing.

Hi, thanks for the video, I have the same fridge and I'm making a kegerator, I don't want to bypass the temperature regulator. But I did unplugged a wire (The brown one) by mistake, do you know where I have to plus it back ? thanks!

It's been so long that I don't remember. You'll probably be able to tell where it goes if you take the cover off the thermostat. I bet you'll find it. I recommend taking pictures before you start and along the way when your doing projects like this. It helps to avoid problems like the one you're having. Good Luck!

By cutting the white wire on thermostat, you are removing the compressor overload protection... any thoughts on that?
@claytonwinter87825 жыл бұрын
I paid $20 for the fridge. If it goes it goes. I should redo this and say this is something you can do. For my kegerator I didn’t bother by passing anything. I just let the stc-1000 do the work. For this fridge I needed to remove the thermostat for everything to fit properly. I didn’t think this fridge would last that long, but it’s been over two years and it’s still going.

@@claytonwinter8782 I see. Thanks for the reply. :)

I see no reason to do it at all. Just set thermo to coldest setting and it'll always turn on when necessary.

is that 220 vac or 120 vac. did you hook up a heat element? Thanks
@claytonwinter87827 жыл бұрын
120 vac. I actually turned this fridge into a kegerator. I was using a heat belt when I needed. I only make about 2.5 - 3 gallon batches. If I were making bigger batches I would get a different heating element.

Just use a heating pad...temp. runs between 24degrees c. and 22 degrees with room temp.@ constant temp of 19 degrees C. 7 days later, put in carboy and store in a dark place. I use one of my closets... ...

@@michaelmccarthy8513 I live in Australia and our voltage is much higher at 250V and there's no way anyone in their right mind would strip and twist wiring as you have. My advice would be to buy some terminal blocks. They're cheap and ensure a secure and positive connection. I do, however, take on board your fridge modifications. I will be able to fit my secondary fermenter into an old bar fridge. All in all, a very informative video. Thanks, mate.

can u help please
@claytonwinter87827 жыл бұрын
I'm really not sure. I didn't need to take mine off necessarily. I did it mostly to save space. I thought about wiring my stc1000 directly into the fridge, sounds like that's what you did, but it seemed more complicated. I'm not a wiring expect. I would check the schematics of your fridge and see where you went wrong. Without being there I really have no idea what you did or what's wrong.

ok i will describe simple way ..

i cut power cable of fridge ,and clean it ..then i connect it to sockets (2) with crew in it (2 way kind) ,,,then i cut cable that connect termostat in fridge .got 4 wieres .2 live 1 neut 1 ground ,,i conect + isolate 2 live and ground with neutral .....then new power cable live to stc1000 1 and 7 ,and 8 to old live ,neutral to neutral of old power cable and that was it .is it ok like that ?
@claytonwinter87827 жыл бұрын
Like I said I don't know. You'd have to check the schematics on the back of your fridge and check.

Why not route the cooling side through the STC instead of bypassing it?
@claytonwinter87826 жыл бұрын
Zac Cathcart I liked the convenience of plugging it in. I thought about wiring the STC right in but decided against it.

which thermowell specifically for STC 1000, does it matter? thanks
@claytonwinter87827 жыл бұрын
The STC-1000 comes with a probe. You really just need a thermowell that can fit the probe. The thermowell I link to in the description will accommodate the probe. I'm sure you could get a different one. I'm sure they're all around the same size. You could probably get a stainless steel probe and install that instead of having a thermowell.

Not the first time I've heard that. I'll be doing an update on this video and show the importance of wire nuts.
