I had the fortune of staying at an airport there half a decade ago, and my _god_ they were supercharging on the LEGO kits sold in their airports. ...a pity said airport was torched that same year, though, when _certain events in the news happened._ ...also, @@NoGoodFigures , I just remembered the markets of some ancient shopping center in the Philippines being where I've seen some of the greatest (and most overpriced) figure hauls possible. ...Greenhills, man. It's basically Diagon Alley for otaku here.

Woah that looks so cool. I could spend hours sifting through all that 😂 I always like local shopping better than online. Just something about the vibe yk? There’s a couple shops here in Minneapolis, but nothing to that extent. I’m just thankful to have a local shop that carries a decent amount of gunpla! Thanks for the tour!

They're super cute! In Japan, I pulled both Scarlets and a Marian. Then bought a Rapi. Saw a few Doro and she was grossly overpriced...4x the price of gacha I haven't gone to Sino as much recently since it gets pretty packed, and the A/C was broken for a while, kind of gross lol Hope you manage to get a Doro!

@NoGoodFigures Unfortunately the shop at sino centre only sold the figures as a bundle. No dice at ins point either BUT hobbyland just announced that they were selling the figures. I went to check and they are individuals! Got a Doro, but they must be rare or something because there's tons of Modernias and Scarlets compared to Doro. Hope you can find one too!
@NoGoodFigures
@NoGoodFigures 7 күн бұрын
Completely forgot Hobbyland carried gacha. I remember the favourites usually get grabbed pretty fast and Doro is definitely the favourite of the bunch. She's the priciest out of the singles in Japan, too (when not sold out). I also pulled a Modernia...then bought smug Doro...now I'm thinking I should have just gone for the set lol. Which Doro did you get?

As someone who has no local stores around it's nice to see how many options you have. Really cool video! I especially envy you for your access to such a vast variety of figure accessories. While it's usually okay-ish to get the figures online without local stores, the accessories are either not available at all or only a tiny selection for absurd prices :(
@NoGoodFigures
@NoGoodFigures 9 күн бұрын
Thanks! And yeah, it's definitely something different. I'd say it's even quite different compared to Japan since everything is somewhat packed together. For accessories, it depends what you want, some of the stuff I feel is still quite pricey. But there are some random bits and pieces which are cool to see, as they're literally just scrap bits from normal figures and you'll rarely find them otherwise.

Cool. reminded me of yesterday waifu hunting trip. Your options are similar to mine, but you have way more stores and extras, those modeling shops and the accesories ones reallly made me drool a bit. anyway i won´t complaint of my offering since i got Raptalia, Megumin, and a fate girl with an unpronounceable name, at least for us at the other side of the pond, she is a purple lancer. a cool trip, can´t wait to see what you got in your trip.

The prices of Figmas and SHF in Hong Kong is fair , all of my local toyshops selling figma's would mark up their prices an extra $20-60 from retail pricing

1:04 We know LEGO adapting NIKKE is as possible as them adapting Touhou (read: the official suggest-a-theme site blacklisted Touhou pretty fast). Still would collect if I got back into it. I'm amazed at how consistent things in HK are with things in PH. A lot of the setups in In's Point reminded me of my jaunts in Greenhills pretty fast. (Well, except for the glaring lack of a possibly-sentient possibly-cursed love doll with unnervingly realistic fingernails manning one of the shops. That tends to stick with ya for a long while after.) ...man, I'd love to go across the world and hunt for rare figures too, someday.
@NoGoodFigures
@NoGoodFigures 9 күн бұрын
I'd definitely get into Lego if they had Nikke xD I suppose it's an Asia/SEA type of store arrangement. Speaking of people manning the stores, there's a lot of uncles and aunties as well as some young people...most of them always look grumpy. Which is funny but also a bit unfortunate, as understandably it's a job but like...it could be worse. Just a random 3am thought.

@@NoGoodFigures As a long-time LEGO fan who paused to focus on figma, Figuarts, Revos, model kits, and the like, I think what hooked me was that LEGO had an interlocking _system_ that allowed you to buy sets for the sake of mashing them together _and compatibility would ensure it would look good out of the brick bin._ With figures and plamodel, still an uphill battle I have to get used to. Sometimes a 1/12 figure isn't in scale with other 1/12 figures, so parts-swaps and accessory sharing ends up awkward when things don't work as you'd expect. LEGO kinda spoiled me on cross-compatibility, and I swear it's shaped the way I approach toys i general since.
@NoGoodFigures
@NoGoodFigures 8 күн бұрын
I pretty much only played with Lego as a kid, but I completely get what you mean. I think that's another reason I haven't really gotten into model kits but it's definitely one thing I've had at the back of my mind. That said, I bought some 30MS accessories in Japan haha
@MrCat-zz5eo

@@NoGoodFigures Experience with the 30M lineup is a bit mixed for me. I got into it via 30MS (I was bored and wanted to kitbash a casual Mashu I feared was a bootleg), and ended up on one heck of a journey to kitbash her, then I got into the 30MM lineup as well... before I realized their reliance on C-clips _sucked._ I like my figures playable, and seeing them flop made me stop. ...then when 30MF came out and they used better double-jointed knees and elbows that didn't use c-clips, I was in *awe.* (Overall, between Bandai's lineups and Kotobukiya's, I've found myself more consistently wowed by Kotobukiya's offerings as a complete product. Bandai's 30M options feel a bit incomplete compared to Koto's Modeling Support Goods, and if it wasn't for 30MF, I'd have probably sadly given up on them altogether for Koto stuff.)
@NoGoodFigures
@NoGoodFigures 8 күн бұрын
Oh yeah, 30MF kits looks awesome. Had a good look at some of them. I still have the unbuilt Asra Archer on the floor which I'll get to eventually but I've heard they're better than 30MS too. I think 30MS is just easier to get into due to the simplicity, but let's see how we go in future. I've been eyeing some Little Armoury guns too, but I know nothing about guns and they just look cool...I haven't found many figures this trip to Japan lol

This entire time I thought you were American, HK looks really cool tho its crazy seeing the cultural difference of figure collecting in the east & west. So many areas here are dedicated selling new & old import figures with relatively decent prices. While in the US from my experience there are rarely any decent priced import shops (its always overpriced). Retail figures here also are barely in stock so most the time my figure shopping is online :(
@NoGoodFigures
@NoGoodFigures 8 күн бұрын
Didn't know I sounded American 🤣 It's definitely different, but makes sense since HK is a lot smaller, so there's more chance that there'll be people coming in to buy the stuff in stores. I guess due to the lack of choice besides online, lots of retail stuff sells out there? 🤔 Online is a safe bet, but the experience is completely different
