CHEAP FIX for the AUDI aircon-ECON light on after regass and no DTC = Broken G65 pressure sensor

Your aircon is not working anymore on your Audi car, even if you just regassed and the ECON button is allways on, is because the G65 sensor is not reading the data correctly. You need it to change it.
If the G65 sensor is broken you wont get any failures on VCDS. Even the regasing wil be useless, because the sensor is reading a low pressure and it wont turn on the aircon.

WARNING - It can be dangerous to do this if you have some pressure in your sistem!
I tried to regass it at Kwik Fit resulting the failure. They removed the gass and oil from my system without any charge. Then i replaced the sensor. The pipe where the sensor is mounted has a valve that can prevent the gas leaking, but the problem is that you cannot remove the sensor without removing the entire pipe because of tight place.
You can find the sensor easily on ebay, but you should check the code before.

Hi yes I recently had changed engines in my 06 A4 quattro 2.0 and the A/C went out following. Unrelated to the engine change, the high pressure/low pressure sensor at the condenser was leaking badly and had mysteriously emptied the entire A/C system of refrigerant. After replacing the G65 hi/lo sensor at the condenser and checking for leaks, I replaced the Orfice tube filter at the high pressure port where the two nuts meet. I used all new O Rings for this so there would be no leaks. I went ahead and vacuumed the system for 1 hour and 10 minutes and refilled with just about 500g of 134a. I STILL had the ECON light on at this point and the compressor would not kick on even though VCDS said the compressor was running and error code was 0 (running). So I was led to believe that this compressor had finally died of old age and it was indeed original with the four rings sticker and mfg date of 2005. It had lasted 16 years in Ohio and Michigan! I replaced with a nice high quality replacement Nissen compressor from Rock Auto for about $210. I did not change the dryer only the orfice filter tube. The dryer needs the front bumper to come off for better access. So after changing the compressor, I regassed the system a second time and STILL had an ECON light on and blowing WARM air!!! I was very confused. But the TRICK is to open VCDS back up go back to HVAC and clear the G65 low pressure intermittent code AGAIN and my ECON light went off instantly and the engine bogged down and the compressor kicked on and i GOT COLD AIR WITHIN 20-30 seconds on a hot 75 degree day! my ac is now ICE COLD!!!

hi, i had the same problem, so i changed the high pressure sensor. which i buyed from the local sparepart shop. NOT original. The problem was still there. We checked on gasleak, everything was ok. i put 12 v on the compressor. was ok after i buyed another sensor from a different manufacturer. Still same problem :) i cheked the whole wiring nothing strange about it. I took off the airco displaymodule, and drove 80 km to try another. Same problem 🤣. Later i ordered an original one from Audi. that solved everything !!! it took me 3 days to solve the issiue ;) BUY ORGINAL SENSORS

hii, on my audi a3 the eco light stays on at the same time the engine light came on as well but the day after. could this be related?

parked the car and heard some hissing....looked in the engine bay and that connector had come away from the aircon and there was some liquid kinda spraying from the female connector.....the econ button wont turn off....am i right in assuming the sensor is forked??? so if it is and i replace it i assume i will have to regas it???

I replaced the sensor and had it regassed....econ light still wont go off and no aircon.....i am waiting for a friend to plug the car into his vag thing and hopefully be able to turn light off......i used a crowsfoot spanner to remove the sensor.....much easier than fking about removing the wheel etc etc .....£14 for the set.....prob never use it again lol

How much did you pay for a new one? I am getting my car back tomorrow with a new condensor and a new G65 switch. It cost 168€ for it including labour. Is that overpriced? It's at a VW dealer.

It depends on the method you chose to replace it. If you manage to remove the sensor ONLY(WITHOUT the aluminium pipe), then you don't need to regass it. The space is tight so I only managed to replace it by remove the whole pipe it was screwed in

First check the ac ray fuse, then see if any leaks then last one is ac compressor went bad of clutch don't move ...

I have same problem. I replaced everything. New pipe, new compressor, changed all the sensors, and the Econ light still does not turn off. I even bought another module to see if mine was having some kind of electronic failure and I still have the same problem. I am all out of ideas plus 1200 euros spent already with no solution.

+Hizzly Play yes, sure. I drove like this for almost a year. The computer won't let the pump to move to prevent further damage.
