I love skating in Berlin, there are many hidden spots and I love how fast you can meet new people. People can have fun without being mean competitive. There is a certain aura and chaotic atmosphere in Berlin, that you do not find anywhere else. People have real freedom ,it feels like.

he's talking about berlin 10 years ago.... this is very out of date. berlin is not cheap. and you better ride with soft wheels there - and be ready to tolerate the wet weather - because the sidewalks are made of cobblestone and the ground is usually wet.

Lived there for a bit in 2014, while I had a well, rough time, this city is not easy on the spirit, I miss it all the time. There's not a day I don't think about the ultimate freedom and tranquility of the place. I wonder how much it's changed, probably a lot, but I bet it's retained the same level of chaos and somehow, ultimate safety. It highlights the difference well between cities in Western Europe and major US cities...everyone that lives there seems to have an interest in preserving what's righteous about it, more social safety nets that are intelligent and function as they should.

I shot my board at a German Turkish family's pram once as well, in Stuttgart. They were unbelievably gracious about it. I didn't hurt any of them and they were more concerned for me slipping out on my ass, braking in the rain, when I saw them. I can't imagine any of my fellow Irish reacting the same way. There would be war over what could have happened, and I'd be the quickest to overreact myself to be honest.
