I purchased a new mini fridge from Walmart, it holds 15 cans and I noticed it has one fan, but ports for two. So I added a new thermal cooling system and new fan. I feel like it should be twice as cold but never got to use it with one fan since I purchased it

What kind of thermal cooling system did you add actually? Just a second fan or also a second metal finblock?

Turns out, you can make that fan fit if you carve out the plastic offset and bolt the fan directly to the back plastic. Took me about 15 minutes with some flush-cut clippers.

This was a really neat watch! A few things I wanted to comment on. 1. I would call it a thermal switch xD 2. Would adding the thermal switch change the efficiency since it raises the resistance? 3. Did you choose the 45c switch because it fit or are they all the same? Computers usually run ~75c pretty consistently so 45 seems like it would be extremely cautionary. But without thermal paste maybe that would raise the switches effective tripping temp by maybe 5 or 10c? I bought a mini fridge used the other day and during research I've seen a lot of them have an issue with the psu. I went ahead and bought a backup one though. Same form as yours though I think a different brand. I paid 10 for the fridge and 13 for the psu so I'd say I got a pretty good deal!

How can you make those type of mini fridges even colder (on hot summerdays)? What is the best option then? Installing 2 metal blocks with fins and a 2nd fan?

I bet those things use more power than a normal minifridge due to inefficient P-S units. Less power while running but they run all the time so more power in the long run.

Thermal switch! They are called thermal switch Joe!!

I have the same one, I got it from walmart for $10 on clearance like two years ago. There was a recent power outage and it stopped working. Do you know if replacing the power supply would fix it? The plastic or whatever near the switch looks fried, and is hard.

so if mine the green light is blinking n doesnt work, its the power supply?

What size is the fan? I want to buy that exact one so I can put water and stuff in it

interesting concept, i have a 15 can fridgidaire and its working efficiency, what you did there. to me is a bit complicated to do, NGL, if its 70 to 74 degrees, my cans cools at a comfortable to like 32, to like 38 degrees. which is good. got this minifridge from walmart like 4 to 6 weeks ago. 59USD, tbh. i like it 5/5 from me :).

Yeah the problem is they're kind of hit and miss. Some seem to work pretty well, others are dead when you take them out of the box like mine. What I did really wasn't all that complicated to be honest. I find this kind of tinkering fun 🙂

I have a koolatron mini fridge that is the aqua color and it works perfectly

I have the same exact fridge. It recently stooped working after having it for a year. It won't turn on the green LED doesn't do anything nor the fan. I'm thinking it might be a bad power supply?

is your peltier working?

Hello there, i would like to know which will be the best way to use a ebike baterry DC 36V to power a 12V DC mini fridge peltier , the best can be using a converter dc dc small module that I can screw inside or how the best way to use the 36V from ebike baterry? Thank you
@JoesGarageProductionsLLC8 ай бұрын
You will need some kind of high-power buck converter. I have not used this particular product, so cannot personally vouch for it, but it advertises a minimum voltage of 36v. Check the wattage of your peltier to make sure it is below the power rating of this device: amzn.to/3Gb44YI. Obviously, be careful :)

@@JoesGarageProductionsLLC Thanks for the info that was my ideia, but i still have to open everything and check watts. Since the ebike batery also has a USB port, i was testing with a cable adapter usb-car lighter to conect then to the 12 dc port to the mini fridge. But the power is soo low that even the fan works at a very low rate. There is also transformers that can convert 36-48V to AC 230V , and then could work better , but i think that its too much and will drain the Batery faster. Also there is space to maybe insert a second peltier, in that case, can the board circuit handle it, or no ? Would 12V DC port be enough for both?

I'm a tech and i can actually do this too. (good idea) but i'm just so damn lazy and i'll just use an a/c plug timer.

Those things don't cool enough to make the thermostat a useful addition.
