Amazing that the gloves costing $100+ less than their competitors perform the best, and I wouldn't have known that without watching this video. @@flhusa1 it got a Milwaukee heated hoodie and heated jacket. I’ve found that the jacket by itself as enough insulation and heft that I hardly use the heat with it and that is mostly not even carrying the battery anymore.

You left out the most impressive part! The Sabot Heat gloves are the only ones that heat up in 3 seconds! They use a different type of heating technology whereas all the others take around 5 min to really heat up. I bought the Sabot Heat a couple months ago after trying about 4 different types and was blown away when they heated up in 3 seconds! Great Video!

It make sense gloves to warm fingers more than back or palm of the hand, since extremities are the ones our body will cool first while saving body heat. The Sabot Heat is truly a great heated glove, have one for quite a few years and have never been disappointed - or cold - with them. Great comparison, as always Todd!

Looked to see this comment while watching the first test & he keeps stating the back of the hand isn't very good - your point stated exactly why it doesn't matter. The fingers are what matters, if they're getting warm that's all that matters as the rest of the hand will be warmer in comparison anyway. Once the fingers warm up with these gloves they have done their job. If he'd had aluminium blocks that reached into the finger tips but stil measured the temperature at the back of the hand the conductivity would of evened out the heat better all round - similar to reality. EDIT:- 2nd test looks better in showing temperature spread especially as it cools down, the palm retains heat much better as expected thus needing the heating elements in the fingers👍

That's actually a very good suggestion! It's hard to find a nail clipper that doesn't crack the nail, unless you clip them right after showering when your fingernails have some moisture in them. Of course I'm buying $5 nail clippers so that might be the problem...

I bought some Green Bell Japanese ones and while very expensive, they don't leave a nice finish on your nails and you have to file/buff after. Well made and easy to use though!

As a long distance runner in the northeast with Reynaud's, I was fascinated with this. I've been using Savior gloves for the past 3 years and I have been very happy with them. My advice for those looking to get these, I wear thin liners under them to reduce the sweating into the good gloves. I also purchased larger capacity batteries, because what's a few extra grams when your gloves are already a half pound 😂. Excellent video, as always!!

Disclaimer: I’m a PA. Reynauds can be threatening to distal extremities, like fingers if exposed for lengthy durations. It’s a vasospasm disorder; therefore, calcium channel blockers can be super helpful for those who spend lots of time in the elements. I’m sure you don’t need blood pressure control but those meds do that as well. Just food for thought. 👍

Our hands are a primary heat dispersal point for us, which is why we see frostbite on hands almost as frequently as we see it on the nose and ears. My hands are usually pretty near the ambient temperature, which is a pretty major problem if it's freezing outside.

Depending what you're doing out in the cold, mittens pretty much always kick the crap out of gloves. Of course that's not helpful if you actually need to do stuff with your fingers. But if you're just spending time in the cold or shoveling or something where you don't need any more precision than "grab and hold", mitts are way better.

Although from looking at them the Sabot Heat seem decently well made, a durability test may have produced different conclusions. In any case, when you take the cost of replacement batteries into account, the gloves themselves are closer to $20 in quality.

As an update, after reading someone else's comments having used an earlier model for a few years I got some and after having used them for a few days blowing snow, I'm impressed with their build quality. Despite the fact they seem to heat the outside of the hand and fingers more than the inside where you really need it more when handling cold metal handles, they are amazing for the money.

I've had my Gerbing S2 gloves for over a decade. They have held up to frequent use with very little wear. They are the best gloves I've ever owned, electric or otherwise! It would be cool to see a comparison on mini fridges with a separate freezer. I live off grid and power consumption is a huge factor for me. Also cooling capacity and the ability to retain the cold while not running. I see a bunch online for pretty cheap but are they worth it? As always can't praise you enough! Thank you for this test. As heated gloves are one of those items where there are hundreds (at least) similar-looking no-name brands on Amazon, it's hard to tell what is what. I bought a pair a couple of years ago and now I'm back to a $20 pair of non-heated. Will definitely check out the Sabot and Hompress. I got Karbon gloves from Costco at 100$. I chose them because they are rugged and made of goat leather with multiple layers. The straps and everything is high quality. Most of those you reviewed are hard to get or super expensive in Canada but I appreciate your reviews so much ! Great information and thank you!

Love the glove part of the testing. For the glove liners, should have tested them inside a non-heated glove. They are intended to be used inside gloves, so they aren't made to have much insulation or wind resistance.

I purchased the Snow Deer last year and have been using them for shoveling snow many times here in Montana in sub sero weather.. Very happy with them. After they arrived I had issues with the batteries.. but the manfufacture-seller replaced them immediately with no questions asked.

In the future, it may be worth considering doing a segment on durability for heated gloves. I bought an expensive pair once, and they didn't even last a week before I couldn't use them in snow anymore as they had large tears in multiple places. I have a feeling the SabotHeat wouldn't do that well in a durability test. Thank you for the informative video!

@@ProjectFarm Yes, please test durability with these. That's why I got the Seirus HeatTouch Hellfire gloves to ski in along with being warm in the Fairbanks winter. I'm confident they'll last many winters and the batteries can be replaced if they wear out (Seirus is a major company and should offer the batteries for many years to come).

"durability for heated gloves" Durability of chinese gloves in general is poor. I had a pair of leather & down mittens from Switzerland that lasted 40 years. Chinese mittens (thin leather and chinese feathers) last me about a year of light use. I recently bought OR Coyote military mittens and multiple mitten and glove liners (made in USA) that allows the liners to be pulled out, swapped, dried. Compare with 1910-1912 Fram expedition: Roald Amundsen bought ordinary leather walking mittens from London shop and wore them to the South Pole and back. The SabotHeat gloves were as low as $40 before this video dropped. Now they are up to $70. The only reason I noticed this is because I have Honey installed and it showed price changes over the last 120 days. It seems that these gloves hover around the $70 mark. The Hompress are now $50, but have been as high as $90. Now the Hompress seems a great bang for buck, whereas at the time of the videos production the SabotHeat was best bag for buck. It may be worth noting the dates of when the items were purchased or that prices are not always the same at the time of production versus release? Prices appear to fluctuate frequently on Amazon it seems.

I've noticed that happen with other "best reviewed" products, such as LED headlight bulbs. And as for price fluctuation... Yep there was a $10 coupon! I was in the market for heated gloves and great timing on the video, was able to pick up a pair. Few rounds of snowblowing this weekend in the midwest and the Sabot gloves performed great! At high 20s the 2nd from lowest heat setting was plenty, could of even done lowest.

Top tier review.! I wish this had been available when I bought the Savior gloves last year. The Sabots were unavailable then. My Savior gloves last a bit over 2 hours on high, like yours did. I bought them because my motorcycles all have heated grips, but my fingertips would get cold on the highway with non heated gloves in the 40s, and in the 30s would get numb. Combining the heated grips and the gloves makes cold. hands a non issue all the way down to freezing where my riding stops out of fear of ice.

That's what those heated glove liners are for. Glove liners are meant to go *under* non-heated/temperature-ready gloves in order to provide extra protection, heat, oil/grease protection, etc.

@Project Farm I would also say cycle times as well. How many times they can be charged and ran before they start going bad. Cheap ones might only make a month of use and crap the bed and more expensive ones may last longer. Even say cycle them all a couple times a month and revisit next winter

@@Deere2154D Batteries are replacable, so even if the $50 gloves batteries go bad after a month, Id wager you could still replace them with better or even larger batteries and still have value. The bonus on these is the fact the batteries can be taken out, unlike many electronics.

I bought the $50 gloves (a bit more in Canada but still most affordable). They work really well and am super happy with them. I use them multiple times per day in the winter. This would have helped me a lot back in 2014/2015. One thing I will say is that a lot of heated gloves aren't very sturdy and if you work in a warehouse freezer, you might end up tearing your gloves relatively quick due to the nature of your work. I just hope they make the gloves a bit more tougher so people can really get their money's worth out of them outside of being heated.
