I'd love to add a PowerSeeker 127 to my growing scope collection. I currently own 6 scopes ranging from a 2.8" f/6 ED doublet to a 12" f/4.9 Dob, but I believe the 127 would feel a niche role that I'm missing in my scope storage room at the moment.... a trash can!! That's right, I'd love to find a Celestron PowerSeeker 127 or even a 114 to turn into a small telescope themed waste basket for my gear room.

@@NewAstronomer I hope that you keep on making these great videos. By the way, Michael, there is an interesting new product under development at Pegasus Astro, the SmartEye. It is expensive, $1500 US, but if it matches expectations, it will provide an electronic eyepiece that will make your existing telescopes work under light polluted conditions, while saving images to your computer. We need to see reviews first in the astronomy magazines of course.

Hello sir, i stay in Delhi ncr (bortle-7) is it worth to buy a telescope at my place, will i be able to see things in the night sky. Should i buy an 8 inch dobsonian or 5 inch reflector. Please suggest me Thank you
@danman64313 ай бұрын
With bortle 7 I would recommend getting a 8 inch dob if you can

I only owned one scope before. It was a 6" Orion DOB. I saw cool stuff with it. Saturn, Jupiter, moons on some planets, and one of the Nebula (orion?). I forget. I could see how people start chasing size. Ironically it seemed Mars was one of the harder ones. I guess cause its small.

I am considering purchasing my first telescope. Prior to watching your video, I had decided on the Skywatcher GTI 130P. Would you recommend this telescope as a suitable choice for a beginner?
@NewAstronomer2 ай бұрын
Sorry I don’t have any experience with that scope so I cannot recommend but it seems to have good reviews especially the one with GoTo and motorized tracking.

Celestron power seeker 127 is a hobby killer, a terrible choice due to its birds Jones design

I bought a celestron powerseeker 127eq trash hard to manage trying to find objects even the moon can be a challenge it has a piece of glass in the focuser that hinders it more than anything the eq mount is clunky the knobs for following objects stick at times and run outta thread when following objects everyone don't buy it there's many other options that are simpler and just better all around

The Celestron Astromaster 130 has a spherical mirror instead of a parabolic mirror.
@davidlang4442Ай бұрын
That would be OK as long as the FL is 10x the primary. Great for planetary observations.
@mikem.2078Ай бұрын
How about to a good view of Andromeda or other galaxies?
@robertsonsidАй бұрын
@@davidlang4442 As it's only 5X it's not acceptable. The Skywatcher Heritage 130 comes with a parabolic mirror. Celestron entry scopes are all about profit.

I don't understand the reason why you add powerseeker 127eq in the list 🤔🤔🤔. Once I owned this terrible scope. It is a hobby killer. It is very difficult to collimate and it never stay in place. It comes with low quality focuser and finderscope. Even to adjust the finderscope is a challenging task for this scope. It comes with 4mm eyepiece that gives 250x zoom and 3x barlow lens both are useless. The scope can't provide such high magnification (Celestron knows that). Celestron is cheating the customer. STAY AWAY FROM THIS SCOP!!!!

Thank you so much for pointing out the specific limitations for the Power Seeker. I have this telescope and will consider your valuable feedback if I ever do a review of it in the future. Clear skies!
@davidphillips84859 ай бұрын
Just remove the internal Barlow lens from inside of the focuser draw tube 🔭. I never use the Barlow lens should be 25-60 power per inch diameter of the objective lens
@daraptor637110 ай бұрын
I love your videos, very informative and straight to the subject, but i disagree with the " beginner friendly scopes " like the power-seeker 127 u mentioned, which is a hobby killer, stay away from that.
@NewAstronomer10 ай бұрын
Yikes I have that telescope. Thanks for the feedback. Clear skies!
@nonegone717010 ай бұрын
Indeed, i wouldn't recommend a Celestron Astromaster 70 either, since there's way more attractive options even in that price range.
