CHEAP KNOCK OFF BUDGET FOOD FROM LIDL VS EXPENSIVE BRAND FOOD!? EXPENSIVE BRAND FOOD VS CHEAP KNOCK OFF BUDGET FOOD FROM LIDL... THE ULTIMATE ARGUMENT! What is the difference between brand name food and cheap alternative food? Sometimes we shop as Lidl, sometimes Sainsbury’s, sometimes Tesco and sometimes Asda... but when you buy brand food like Heinz, Nutella, Pepsi... I always think it generally tastes better than the Lidl alternative food. So we thought we would test ourselves!!!

I'm no snob or search for the cheapest shops, i go to the closet, which is 10 minute walk, or even quicker by car, but not worth it unless its a mahoosive shopping trip. Its a Sainsbury's, used to be a CO-OP, but its basically the same but in a different packaging ^^ So what ever savings can be had, i save in time and petrol, which wins always. Love your content guys, looking forward to 'Why's it OK for women to have 50 pairs of Shoes & Handbags, but Men get castigated for buying another driver/putter every year or so!!

The Lidl that was open where I live has unfortunately closed due to the horrible location they put it at. While some of the things weren't quite as good, many others were the same, or even better, at 1/2 the price or less from the other retailers in the area. Milk, eggs, bread, poultry, fish, hamburger, steak, pork, cheese, beer, wine, and cereal from Lidl were in this category. I remember paying $70 per month for all I needed of these, and now it's $170 for the same thing.

So let's relate this to golf James, something you understand better than food and budgeting. 1. Lurpak £3.50 Danepak £1.50, convert this to golf.....Driver A £350, Driver B £150. Can you justify paying an extra £200 for Driver A, just for a marginal improvement in yards (it must have been marginal as you took a while to decide)? 2. Heinz ketchup £2.50, Lidl Ketchup £0.80 , convert to golf.....Driver A £250, Driver B £80. Therefore, £170 more for a few more yards and a 'nicer' colour!! 3. Digestives, a no brainer as you couldn't tell the difference, probably saving £100 on a driver equivalent every one or two days!! 4. 5. 6. etc etc etc So save your money ("and let's do it now") and put it towards lessons for the lovely Laura from another pro. Why jeopardise your relationship!!

Its the opposite i believe they put less ingredient into the cheaper options less sugar etc hence the reduction in price and the reason why we tend to gravitate towards the sweeter options being the more expensive brand named items.

Best way to describe this James is Taylormade v Cobra one is more expensive purely because of the brand advertising. you can tell the difference but its not big enough to justify the money .After 3 weeks of switching some of them you would be happy to eat them .

Only 6 minutes in, at the Pepsi part. I can say, I would never consider myself a food snob but sometimes, the knockoff stuff is easily noticeable in a difference. Other times, it might actually be better. I know cream cheese spread the local store brand vs the big brand, the local store brand doesn't even taste close to the same...heck it's not even the same texture. haha

The thing is when only comparing one against one then you have an even money or 50/50 chance of getting it right, which is basically the same as guessing the toss of a coin or the sex of the baby of a pregnant mother to be. If you really can taste the difference then you should for example be able to pick out the brand name from say one of those and five of the same cheapy. Although I have done a similar test too with Coke and Galaxy chocolate and Sainsbury's own label alternatives but gave my mate the Sainsbury's ones both times for both and he was not able to tell that neither were Coke or Galaxy.

Here’s a thought James... carry it across to the golf 🏌️‍♂️ channel. Take 5 balls, ranked from premium ball to bargain bucket 🪣. Hide the name ( covered by sharpie), hit 3 shots with each and rank them purely on scope data and feel. Will be interesting to see how how you rank them versus price 🤔
