Great review as always. Thanks. I would love to have this lens to try on my A7II. It would be interesting to compare it with the Sony 50mm f1.8 that I have.

Your reviews have led me to about a few purchased lenses. Love the thorough reviews. Seriously helps narrow down decisions. And honestly why I trust your channel. Every lense I bought for Sony has been , well let's say I've kept them cause I love them. Keep up the pure and honest reviews. Much appreciated. Been following you for years now. That's how much I value your channel. I pray much more success for you and many more blessings. Keep up the great work. You are appreciated.

I use this lens on my Sigma fp L, and the combo is a delight. Compact, well balanced, and the lens can resolve the details that a 61mp sensor can capture. Focus peaking and viewfinder zoom makes manual focusing pretty reliable, even at f/1.4. I did buy a 49mm screw on lens hood to help reduce flare.
@tanayjohnson12973 жыл бұрын
I actually liked the look of the flare in some of the shots. Seems like a fun lens.

I don't mind any of the shortcomings, i think it is a wonderful looking lens. Specially for someone new to photography and needs to experience with manual focusing. Hopefully i will be winning this lens, because while we wish for better lenses, even cheap lenses like this, are simply not possible to afford, especially when you are trying to keep up with the expenses of your family and needs of your kids . Thank you Arthur for your wonderful work and informative reviews. Cheers from Canada !

Thanks for the review. I recently bought two manual Canon FD lenses for my mirrorless camera and it turned out I really enjoy manual focussing. Manual lenses are fun to shoot with, as they force you to get out of your "comfort zone". Best wishes from Germany

Thank you for the great review. I wonder if it would be a good option for Panasonic S5, as there aren't many options over there. And is the chromatic aberration really that bad? The pictures didn't look terrible to me.🤔

One more interesting thing to add to every lens review- sunstars. Haven't seen many reviewers to pay attention to this aspect (probably because that is not very important to many shooters), however in some cases people are specifically looking for a lens with good sunstars! Anyway- thank you very much!

This is why I like your lens reviews. You're honest about it especially the quirks that comes with the lenses that you review. That lens is quite usable if you're just going to shoot black and white and bokeh quality is not bad considering its price.

Interesting, I usually agree with your reviews but disagree with most of this one. I own this lens and find it fantastic, sharp in the centre wide open, fantastic stopped down to f2, and sharp across the frame stopped down further. My experience is more in line with reviews by Phillip Reeve and Admiring Light. In terms of sharpness it is very similar to my Sony 16-55mm G - quite a feat!

Nice lense. I like it :)
@cineaudiophile44653 жыл бұрын
I think reviewers of this lens are missing the intention: it's a modern take on 'vintage' performance. All the shortcomings - except maybe the chromatic aberration - are pretty standard for a vintage lens. $200 for a *new* 50/1.4 that performs like vintage without the risk of buying used/ebay etc. seems like a good deal to me. Corner to corner sharpness and flat modern optics aren't everything.
