The only nitpick is the use of 100watt 12volt panels. Ditch those and get some bifacial, residential style. 10, 370watt Aptos panels are cheap when on sale. Better production on cloudy days. Oh, and batteries. Batteries, batteries, batteries. Otherwise, very cool build.

Another option is the Anker 2K inverter/charger, you can pull that out and get 1000 W parallel solar input, which should help your two days. I bought two of these to go along with my off grid system.

Agreed, also there are better rack mounted options that offer more power for less and better battery chemistry, ability to fix future problems or expand easily. I am a big fan of Echoflow though.

Ecoflows or other comparable systems are a HUGE waste of money when used in a permanent installation. You're paying soooo much for the portability. EG4, SOK, and others make systems that go together like legos, and are a much better value.... but Ecoflow probably gave all this stuff to them for free sooooo.

The tiny home is beautiful and it’s self-sufficient, you guys need to add a win turbine with solar to have additional and alternative power when it’s cloudy,, but I love it!

It's not self sufficient. It uses gas for heat, water and cooking. Might as well use some candles and not have electricity at all

Great video and great built. Very nice build on the solar stand. As high as the stand is off the ground for the solar panels, this is where you would benefit using bi-facial solar panels because of the ambient light provided by the space. Signature Solar has some great prices on 400W bi-facial panels made by Aptos. You would also benefit from an off grid system by EG4 where in that small space you could easily get 10KW with a 3000w inverter for less the price of the EcoFlow. I love EcoFlow and I own 7 units from them but sometimes you have to cut the umbilical cord and go with server rack batteries. Great Work!

Yes of course this is possible because there's no AC source such as mini split which would most likely not work with the current set up.

Replace the lithium ion battery in that backup generator with an AGM motorcycle battery. They can withstand colder temps and still work.

Swap the solar to some Bi-Facial panels and you will be happier as well as swapping the smart generator battery to a sealed AGM. I use the Delta Pro, Spare Battery, and Smart Generator (running on propane) as a backup for my chicken brooder/incubation shed and it all works out great, even in the cold.

I totally get the practical reason to gas as much as possible, but it would be a very interesting thought excersise to see how much more beefy a setup you'd need to electrify it all. À couple of small inductive elements Woudnt take much. Main obstacle is electic water and heat.

Igree with some comments that this is more like gas powered system - hybrid solution. Solar is taking energy for lighting and electronics. Heating is done by gas - this is were most kw/h is needed. Still great job - you can stay off grid. To be fully autonomous add just stove and you done.

Appliances which consumes more electricity are running of gas . Then what is the point running on solar you can have small gas generator which charges a battery that is sufficient

the solar reduces the amount of gas consumed. He prob has to haul gas in. Less trips over all with solar.

double check state laws as state law supercedes HOA regulations. I know in my town hoa's say no, but can't stop you because of state law. You can call local solar provider, they are used to dealing with HOA and know the local laws.

Something wrong with your smart generator starter. The bendix drive isn't engaging the flywheel. The Delta Pro's can control it but you have to use the adapter and plug the special cord in the back. I don't think they sell a cord long enough for your application.
@christopherrenn8137
@christopherrenn8137 6 күн бұрын
I was thinking the same. Looked like it was hooked up thru it's own ac inverter. When the unit has a smart DC connection on back (if im not mistaken). Which is a biway flow, to not only charge the unit but be charged from it. While allowing the firmware of the inverter unit to see the remote unit wholly. Looks like its right on the battery unit tho.

Too much focus on power stations and not enough on modular systems that cost less and offer important advantages. Getting a 5 kwh system for what you pay for a 2 kWh Ecoflow or Bluetti is what people need to learn about.

Find it shocking that this is called this "off-grid", but requires some kind of gas (source not mentioned) to power the heat, hot water, and stove. Did this require running a natural gas line, or is the home using propane? Noticed a red petro gas container next to the generator. If the home is running off NG, or propane, then it would make sense to tie in the backup generator into the same fuel source. One less hassle, failure point. The electric test was a "power" test, not "energy" test. The 1300 Watts measured would need to be multiplied by hours of usage to get a daily "energy consumption". If the battery system is 2600 W, then it would only could sustain the max load for a couple hours. Probably 4-6 hours under a less demanding typical load. Adding more battery capacity if need longer run time. BTW: the solar panels installed appear to be 12 V type, which is a more costly and provide less energy than typical 1 m x 2 m full-size panels. Higher capacity battery storage typically use 48 V, so a DC-to-DC converter may be required to operate existing 12 V loads. Do like the home (AirBnB) and the solar panel mount design, but feel the systems for supplying energy could have been better researched.

So gas water, heater, and stove. Ummmkay... Its cool for sure, but you could probably go full electric with a small heat pump, tankless electric and some beefier batteries / inverter. The biggest trick would be that hot water unless there was room for a small tank.
