We tackled assembling the bike as a family project. kzbin.infoUgkxzg0clhbtRf2gGxPkVETFKJJKGqdsorQu The package is heavy, but I have 2 teen boys that were able to move it. The written instructions were great- we didn't need to watch the videos, but it was good knowing that the option was there if we needed it. After we were able to get it set up, the boys each rode 3 miles and I rode 8 and the bike stayed quiet. The display is easy to reset, and you can put it on whichever setting you are using (time, distance, calories, etc). I will say that my butt is a little sore from the seat, but that could be because I haven't rode in a while. While it is comfortable for me, it was not comfortable with the seat position for my friend (could not move the seat back far enough and he slightly looked like a kid riding a tricycle that he had outgrown). He also said that the seat hurt his manly parts. We are going to look for a different seat that will be compatible with this bike for him.I did purchase the Wahoo Cadence sensor and strapped it to the crank of one of the pedals. This will sync with my Apple Watch, iPhone and will import data in to my Health app. Wahoo does have other sensors available other than cadence. I can also keep either my phone or my iPad on the display and they both feel pretty secure.

if you got a 'cheap' turbo already the best way is to get a power meter on your bike. They have dropped quite a bit in pricing this year as more companies has came out with their own. So getting a cheaper new one or a used one at a discount price is better than a direct drive trainer. The benefit as already mentioned is you can use it outdoors once the weather better and/or corona gone

Great advice Rupert, cheers mate 😊👍 I'm using an old dumb turbo (£20 second hand) and Craft speed/cadence sensor from Aldi (£9).. Zwift subscription. 😎👍All good

I use the Wattbike at work. I know exactly how many watts I'm producing at any heart rate/cadence. If a gym has daily membership go in a couple of times and see what you do. The only thing you need to watch is cadence. It matters. There's more power at any given heart rate at lower rpm, so less resistance and spinning lifts heart rate, but reduces useful power. So I sit at 85-87, and at 164 bpm it'll be 306W, climbing a little to low 170s over 20 minutes.

I’m just looking for a way to ride my bike indoors for exercise (no speed or distance stats necessary) so I can get a good cardio workout in the Canadian winter months, without having to buy an expensive exercise bike like the gyms have Any brand recommendations on an effective, yet cheap “dumb” turbo trainer?

@@chrisvangalen2674 Consensus is either CycleOps Fluid2 or Kurt Kinetics Road Machine. Both readily available new or used.

Thanks for confirming that RGT requires a power meter and not work with speed sensors + and dumb wheel on trainers although I wished they would because I couldn’t afford a smart trainer yet

I have a dumb trainer, speed, cadence and heart rate sensor. I would not mind riding the same few hills repeatedly. Is there a free app that can predict my power so I can match the power/cadence of online videos or even in the app itself?

Unless you want a whole host of random noises from your trainer, don't buy Tacx.
