@@Craig-xf7ox No dude I get it. Ed went from using Gibson’s to Fender’s and wanted something that combined them both, so in his early edition he went with a cheap Northern Ash body with pickup routing modified with a Gibson PAF humbucker in the bridge complete with a maple neck and fretboard, Grover tuners and one of the earliest original Floyd Rose tremolo’s. This is precisely what your original post claimed, word for word.

@bodi.mp3
@bodi.mp3 5 ай бұрын
@@cambriakilgannon12I disagree, it all depends on what your end goal is. Not my go to necessarily, but let’s say someone really likes a certain style body, but wants super high output active pickups, then doing the switch would be ideal for that individual. Obviously this is just one use case, but I think I view this differently. You definitely don’t need to mod it, but similarly you don’t need to mod a squire, it’s all about getting the instrument to your individual end goal, wether that’s one mod or completely rebuilding the thing. I guess it’s more the difference of modding a cheap guitar to sound more expensive or play better, vs modding an expensive guitar to make it what you want it to be. The situations are a lil different, but comparable enough to me ig

@bodi.mp3
@bodi.mp3 5 ай бұрын
@@cambriakilgannon12 all I’m saying is it doesn’t matter how good the instrument is, change the electronics if that’s what you wanna do. I’ve had cheap imports with great pickups out the box, and I’ve played USA Gibsons for example that sound like shit and are too dark and muddy. It’s about intuition, not just upgrading something because it’s cheap. Upgrade it because it needs it, not because someone told you that you have to upgrade your cheap guitars. It’s not a Lego set in the sense that there are set instructions, do whatever the fuck you want, and I’m letting people who read you comment know that a higher end guitar can still benefit from mods, and a cheap may be fine as is. It all depends on what you want to do with it

What was the original fretboard material? It looks like rosewood now! I just bought a Fender Player Jaguar (black, HS) and it comes with a pau Ferro fretboard. I'm waiting for it to ship right now. I'm hoping the fretboard looks alright. I'd prefer rosewood, but I think the brown PF fretboard will look good against the black body and the black pickguard. You just never know how PF is going to look. It's very inconsistent.
