Never commit to buying 1 brand or tool truck only, you will miss out on so many great tools! One thing nice about the "cheaper" tools, is the weird (neat) things that are nice to have
@UselessBuilds Жыл бұрын
Amen to that, I tend to lean towards snapon because the resale value is higher when you're ready to upgrade to newer versions
@commonsenseisdeadandgone Жыл бұрын
@@UselessBuilds what's this word you used, "resale"? I'm not sure what you mean with that statement but specifically that word. "Upgrade", you mean buy another tool box to fill up again? There's a reason there is 5 lower boxes 52"+ and 6 lower and upper boxes 52", 2 rolling carts, all plump full in our shop between me and my roommate 😂, I have tools I bought when I was 16 (I'm 38). I have never sold a single tool. Oh I also have a cart at work full of tools.
@UselessBuilds Жыл бұрын
yes reselling your old tools that you know you will never need to use again, for me i have some tools really only used in heavy duty truck shops. I switched careers and no longer need them so selling them to a younger tech getting into the industry helping them save money, meanwhile clearing up space in my tool box at home for things i do need and/use@@commonsenseisdeadandgone

@@UselessBuilds😂 I was being facetious... I get what you're saying, I have tools for applications I will probably never use but I keep them all, I'll use them for something else to "rig" it to work. I understand if you have a collection of specific tools you can sell as a package in that case makes sense. HOWEVER if you're paying X for a specific brand and resale for ⅓ what you paid, but if bought from whatever brand is decent for a ⅓ the price from the start and you sell them for ⅓ of that price, I'd say everybody wins. When I worked at a Chevy dealership, every tech there had tools only from Snap On and Matco. When I came in I had everyone coming over to my box just to look at all the different tools I had because a lot just isn't on the trucks. (I am seeing a lot of trucks are starting to get a lot more "other" tools, even the "novelty" tools.) My go to basic tools is Gearwrench. The most common tools I use by far is 3/8- Pittsburgh swivel Head ratchet, Gearwrench mid length sockets and Astro low profile sockets. 1/2- Milwaukee high torque impact and Kobalt (I really like Kobalt too) short and long impact set. I'd say that's 95% of the tools I need as a fleet mechanic.

I actually had no idea, but yeah I just checked, and sure enough it does. I guess if you needed a safety light at night that would work great but at 350 lumens it aggressive 🤣🤣

Hell yea I bought a bunch of terminals, heat shrink and butt connectors from Temu the other day lol

Power up moves, probably saved like 20 bucks on all that too I bet!

Temu tools are fine if you know what vendors to look for. the same stuff you would find in any store or amazon. all made in the same chineese factories. Sockets and bits, ratcheting wrenches, hell even a cool oil filter tool that is 3/8 drive to put on a ratchet.
@UselessBuilds Жыл бұрын
Definitely I personally think it's financially worth it to shop around on Temu. Just don't download the app or browser tool, and your data should be safe, especially if you use PayPal

There's only a few companies that are going to make tools HOWEVER the quality of metal does differ. Many things I feel are sorted at QC and company A. Buys the highest grade and trickles down. But there is for sure a certain threshold where price surpasses quality and that's where marketing comes in. I swear people expect these items to be flawless at a stupid low price. Like the hose clamp pliers, how bad can they get? Nothing a welder can't fix!
@JamesMKE Жыл бұрын
@commonsenseisdeadin2023 true this happens with stuff like batteries and such but also sometimes stuff is just the exact same at diffrent prices due to customer base/loyalty or brand customer service. Two things can be true.

@@UselessBuilds not sure if you did, but mention a set schedule of when you release new videos or new tool reviews. I think showing the expensive tools next to the cheap is a great point in the videos.

Interesting review, thankyou. I found the quality of stuff from Temu varies even with the same item, sometimes you get a good one and sometimes rubbish. I bought some graphene coating and it made surfaces dull not shiny! I got a refund though.
