Extremely Low Cost Travels - Turkey - Part 3.
Eastern Turkey offers amazing picturesque landscapes and wild nature. These lands in contrast to western parts of Turkey are not destroyed by mass tourism so you can still enjoy the natural environment.
Unfortunately, eastern provinces are very poor and people live there very modest lives. The main occupation of the local population is cattle grazing. The lack of availability of certain resources such as wood or heating fuel forces people to cope with this problem in an unusual way.
In this episode we focused on the regions starting from the border with Georgia (the Khozapini / Kartsakhi Lake), then we wisited the Karaçay Canyon. There we came across the completely unknown to the tourists Devil's Castle (Şeytan Kalesi). Then we headed south through Çıldır Lake area towards Mount Ararat. We ended this episode by reaching the Lake Van.
As usual, our trips are organized in the most low-budget way possible.
With own supplies and free accomodation in a tent it is possible to greatly reduce the costs of expedition. The total expenses for 1-month long expedition and covered distance of over 10.000 km were about 200€ per person.
