What I didn't realize also (being a drummer myself) is that Bun can play the kit left handed and right handed. Not many drummers can do both and do it well. I'm a right handed drummer, which as a drummer is kinda like being a left-handed guitarist. It isn't natural, per se. But growing up drumming right handed, I began to see other right handed drummers like Phil Collins, Mike Gibbins (Badfinger), etc, then when I saw the video for Cheap Trick's "The Flame" saw Bun play right handed.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame performances have exposed two very real but overlooked truths. The drummer matters!!!! Two seconds into "I Want You to Want Me" instantly displays that it was the perfect and solid drumming of Bun E. Carlos that made this band feel as good as they did!! He is most certainly the "Ringo" of his era. Feel first..feel second..rinse and repeat. Perfection! This would again be proven when Heart was inducted. After decades apart, the moment drummer Michael Derosier kicked into "Crazy on You", the stars and planets aligned, and the world was right once again! As soon they changed bands and played "Barracuda", everything was wrong again! Striking contrast just one song removed from each other! And please, Robin Zander is simply one of the greatest rock vocalists of ALL-TIME!!

“Can you honestly tell me you forgot? Forgot the magnetism of Robin Zander, or the charisma of Rick Nielsen? Or how 'bout the tunes? I want YOU...to want ME. The dream police da da da da da da da da. Your mommy's alright, your daddy's alright, they just seem a little bit weird...". xoxo The Clarences

Saw CT for the first time in '78 at the Chicago Amphitheater. I was just 15 and have been a fan ever since. Congrats to them on finally being recognized by the R&R Hall of Fame. Well deserved! 👏👏👏

Saw them for the 1st time this New Years Eve. Was not expecting much for a band whose members are upwards of 70 years old...best live band I have ever seen, and one of the loudest.

My older cousin had a poster of Cheap Trick that I fell in love with when I was seven. I remember checkered Vans shoes pattern, the typewriter font, the guitarist with a silly hat and guitar with two necks, and the drummer that looked like a private detective or detective at the office. Those are the visuals that stuck with me.
