Lol the way Bun E. bangs right into Dream Police, and just destroys it down the stretch, as always...quick drink and drives them into Surrender. He is just so money. Miss him. Love this band.

As a drummer, I really appreciate how fluid Bun is behind the kit. He just rolls around it like nobody’s business and that left hand is playing ghost notes all over the place. Stick twirls and cymbal chokes, to boot. A true master at work. If anything, I think he’s improved with age.

I agree. He has improved his snare play with a rolling thunder beat that is so smooth. It's was his day to shine with his peers in the audience. I saw CT 3 years ago with Dax. He's okay I guess. Bun E. makes it so effortless.

What I didn't realize also (being a drummer myself) is that Bun can play the kit left handed and right handed. Not many drummers can do both and do it well. I'm a right handed drummer, which as a drummer is kinda like being a left-handed guitarist. It isn't natural, per se. But growing up drumming right handed, I began to see other right handed drummers like Phil Collins, Mike Gibbins (Badfinger), etc, then when I saw the video for Cheap Trick's "The Flame" saw Bun play right handed.

Glad they set aside their differences for an evening to come together for this. It's a special night. Rick's son is a very capable drummer but this band doesn't sound the same unless these four guys are on stage. Bun E. is so much more than just a timekeeper. These guys really sound just as good as they did in 1978. Amazing.

Bun E. Carlos, a drummer who earned his place through dedication and “keeping the groove” in the history books; “Live At Budokan “ is now in the Library of Congress 🤟 as “culturally, historically or aesthetically significant “ (and he’s still entitled to 25% of the every dollar earned in the band’s catalog)

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame performances have exposed two very real but overlooked truths. The drummer matters!!!! Two seconds into "I Want You to Want Me" instantly displays that it was the perfect and solid drumming of Bun E. Carlos that made this band feel as good as they did!! He is most certainly the "Ringo" of his era. Feel first..feel second..rinse and repeat. Perfection! This would again be proven when Heart was inducted. After decades apart, the moment drummer Michael Derosier kicked into "Crazy on You", the stars and planets aligned, and the world was right once again! As soon they changed bands and played "Barracuda", everything was wrong again! Striking contrast just one song removed from each other! And please, Robin Zander is simply one of the greatest rock vocalists of ALL-TIME!!

Yeah, holy crap. I wasn't sure if Bun still had his chops at this time, but wow! His playing did indeed appear effortless, fluid and natural. Picked up the "This Band Had No Past" book by Brian Cramp, meticulously relaying the very early gig-by-gig day so how Cheap Trick got together. Highly recommended if you are a Cheap Trick fan interested in the early days.

That was great. They obviously enjoyed the heck out of that, and it was so nice to see genuine smiles and affection between Bun E. Carlos and the other band members. In spite of all that went down, time has passed, there has to still be some fondness there, and thinking back over a career, it had to be a great moment for all of them. Plus....Bun E. Carlos has to be the chillest drummer of all time. He doesn't quite look right without a cigarette barely attached to his lower lip, but that's ok.

Bun is one of the best damn drummers on the planet. Listen, his kit is small, but perfect. He don't need a spinning stool to get to everything or even an idiotic rollercoaster. He just jams. Robin's vocals are as great as they were in the late 70s. Rick Neilsen is one of the baddest lead guitarists on the planet. He's melodic, but hard! Last, but not least, the inventor of the 12 string bass guitar, Tom Peterssen. They're masters!

Damn...the hours I spent listening to this band in San Diego in the 70's and 80's...and Bun E. Carlos...you STILL rock your (_*_) off my man. Crazy how you ALL are STILL kicking so much ass. I'm teaching my grandkids to sing Cheap Trick songs (on long drives in my car...) and they ALWAYS want to do the air drum solos...(ok...I love doing them too) Thank you guys for making my teenage years so GD fun and happy. Congrats on an honor that was WAY overdue. Now....COME DO A SET IN DESTIN FLORIDA. Dammit.

I actually stood a first date up to head up to Navy Pier, when it was Chicago Fest before It was the Taste and Daley transformed the Pier. I could not believe what I was witnessing. The only thing I wish the would have thanked were the countless DJs in Chicago that played their music on iconic stations WLS/CFL/LUP. What an age of Illinois music

Glad to see Robin can still hit the notes. So many acts, by the time they get inducted, the lead singer can longer hit the high notes. Wait until Bon Jovi plays this year, and you'll know what I mean.

In 79 I saw the original Beach Boys in concert and perhaps realized how damaging it is to see a bands need for alternate singers to hit notes the originals can't anymore. Robin Zander is so great as a rock singer and never seems to run out of gas.

Nope. He's pushing the beat, playing at the front, but he comes down consistently on the one. The kind of rock drummer audiences love and guitarists weirdly have problems with.

This is where it all started for me... first concert ever: Cheap Trick and .38 Special at Hara Arena in Dayton Ohio. 1981, forty fuckin years ago, I was thirteen and it all made sense from then on. Rock and roll as guys like these could deliver it can change the world. Certainly how I viewed it forever. Thank you for all you gave us guys

My older cousin had a poster of Cheap Trick that I fell in love with when I was seven. I remember checkered Vans shoes pattern, the typewriter font, the guitarist with a silly hat and guitar with two necks, and the drummer that looked like a private detective or detective at the office. Those are the visuals that stuck with me.
