There is a place for big wide gliding baits in open water but- the cheaper glide that has a tighter action works 10 times better in cover than the ones that have this wide, extreme glide. The S-waver, the Pistol Pete, Sneaky Pete, and Arashi are great cover glides. And since cover is predominantly what I fish, I stick to the cheaper glides and it works great for me. 6th sense sells inexpensive glide baits so- obviously there is a place for them.

Thoes expensive baits are amazing but the price is still not worth it to me, I have caught plenty of quality size bass on on cheaper baits that have good action and are durable enough to handle some abuse. Its a shame that these baits are so much there is a huge % of anglers who will never have the opportunity to fish one of these baits because of the price..unless there given as a gift or there sponsored by the maker. @stripervince1 Жыл бұрын
I fish every single night for trophy river and lake stripers here in eastern Tennessee, one of the best places on the planet for huge stripers. I'm only throwing big swim and glide baits these days now. I have cheap ones and expensive ones. Some cheap ones are fantastic, some expensive ones suck. It just depends on current, line type and weight and rod. I seem to like the $30-$75 range ones the best. There are so many good ones on ebay all different price ranges and skill levels. I can tell you this tho, from 65 years of fanatical striper fishing all over the country in fresh and salt water. Whatever type of swim/glide bait you're using, there are only 2 color patterns you need, shad/or white, and rainbow trout, that's it, usually a 9 inch is the minimum size if you're after big fish like I am. I don't get many, because I don't use live bait and I'm a boatless bank fisherman, but the ones I get are real big ones, usually 35 lbs+. In the last 25 years I've caught 5 50lbers, and 3 of those were on 3 consecutive casts off tobay Beach long island. A school of huge bass was swimming by and I was right there. All 3 were 55 pounders. . I'm using only the most insanely expensive JDM tackle like Daiwa saltiga dogfights $1000+ , and 66 insane lbs of drag, shimano stella, twin power, and St croix, and Lamiglas glass rods. When I hook a big one, there are no excuses, line broke, hook straightened, drag too tight or loose, knot failed etc. This is my hobby, my life and I take it seriously. I'm the guy who owns the tennesse license plate "STRIPER". I've had it 20 years. It's striper fever and I've got it bad. I chased these awesome fish all over the country, I was in on the big striper boom in the 1980s in California at Silverwood and lake pyramid, and then i move to bullhead city Arizona and was there for those few years on the colorado river striper boom in the 1990s also. Ive never kept or killed a striper, every one is released alive.....my quest now is to get a verified 60 pounder. A very high bar to try to achieve. But im in the right waters, i use top notch tackle and i know what im doing, so you never know...if i get a 60, youll know. Today with cell phone cameras, the proof can go worldwide in seconds. Hopefully it will happen. Ive certainly paid my dues.....Tight lines boys.
