I just wish football boots were more available in US. Nike is a American company and somehow most stores and outlets have like 1-2 options at best and there is nobody explaining what is what and what it is used for. Elite version of boots are so rare and only way to get AG version of them is via internet, which is ironic because most fields in US are AG.

weird. in texas, football boots are widely available with elite, pro, and academy versions. I was able to find alot of elites, but not elites with the ag soleplate sadly.

Is it only me that can see how Adidas and Nike are ripping us off? Thier "elite" versions of thier boots basically come with features where as anything below that doesn't have anything close to it. So unless you fork out an extortionate amount for a pair of football boots you're getting the bare bones and you may as well get any thats not their highest version. Absolute rip off from there companies.

it's all marketing, and yes they are definitely ripping their customers off. All this "extra tech" these higher end football boots are supposed to give is in my opinion really not significant enough to pay an extra 200 €. On top of that, the cost of production for these boots is dirt cheap. These brands are insanely good at selling the idea of these higher end football boots to be the superior option.

Yeah but it’s not like you really need all the added features of the elite versions if you’re a good player. I’ve always gotten the takedown versions and they’ve always felt fine and worked well, they also last long enough for the money usually. Tho I do agree that there’s no reason some cleats should be that expensive

Hey Jay. You didn't mention that these GX's are slightly different from the 2023 launch colour. The toe area is a bit wider. I just got mines today but unfortunately they aren't for me. I feel the toe box needs a bit more height as it's applying a lot of pressure to the top, and still needs a bit more width for wider feet.

Hmm I've just tried Vortex and Mad Ready on one foot each and I'll be honest I can't really feel any difference. Sorry to hear they don't fit you well though. /Jay

@@unisport Thanks for the reply. I just realised it was the sole plate. The AG sole plate is slightly different to the FG and more accomodating.

I think tiempos are more likely for defenders and the gx are good for wide feet

I have the academy version,does the the job for me,very good,4.5/5 ,it good for shooting but shooting protection could have been better,like better upper cushioning,thats why 4.5/5

as a 13 year old it would probably make sense to just not buy the expensive version for a young person that still is growing but with my wide feet its hard to choose since there arent alot of options but they arent as i would like but since these came out my parents didnt even hasitate since i did suffer from a hyperextension knee injury

I fit football boots wide. And watching your video on the Mercurials vs Phantom GX, I thought I'll try the phantom GX. So, i went to a Nike store to try the shoes but got confused between 2 sizes. I tried my, as usual, EUR 43. After wearing it, i felt like there just a very very tiny bit gap in front of the toes, so I decided to try EUR 42.5 which really molded around my foot but felt just a little bit tight, like very little tight. Based on that information, I'd like to ask the experts that if I get a EUR 42.5, should I expect it to open up after some use and feel fine or get a EUR 43 and lace it up real tight with grip socks meanwhile I wait for my foot to grow and fit that size. I am 15 btw just so you know I still have a growing foot. But I have grown from 42 to 43 in 1 year (that's how sneakers and runners fit me).

Considering your age, I'd suggest you get the 43. If the gap in front is less than the width of your thumb, you should feel no discomfort while playing anyways. Also Phantom GX Elite, once you wear it 3-4 times the midfoot stretches a bit to accommodate your foot PERFECTLY, and then your foot does push forward a bit more and the space goes.

Just remember that a lot of us watching are parents of soccer players. And it's funny because they eventually have their own money. And then they'll buy something cheap and still prefer that because they bought it. I guess I mean. I appreciate the information about the low end. Because even if we prefer to buy them expensive ones , they may not always use i Also I would say that even very good high level. Soccer players probably don't need the upper end all the time. They have to play a lot on turf as well So they need to have 2 kinds at least and they go through them very quickly. It just becomes very difficult to afford all the time.

I have always had issues with wide feet boots, found that Puma are the best when it comes to quality and price, the Future range with flyknit for sure would be a good place to try!

Yep, the luna 2 has a sock connected that raises the height and the gx does not have the sock/collar making it cheaper

You're safe with fg but i'd recommend to go for other boots like tiempo, predator, x crazyfast or even copa or any other boots you can find which doesn't really have bladed studs like in the gx or mercurials as it won't be that aggressive when you play on ag
