I have used K&N 20+ years with no problems. I have added an additional fly screen to stop the bugs entering into the folds, makes cleaning faster and I don't have to use twizer to remove the bugs.

Top idea putting in a separate screen for the bugs as this was why I went back to genuine because it just took hours to get those jammed in bugs out. A real pain.

Yeah the filter is white once you’ve cleaned the red oil off. Helps when re applying the red oil you can see where you’ve missed and helps to get an even coating.

Only new to diesel but have ran these types of filters in my petrol cars and one time I rushed the cleaning and maybe over oiled and didn’t let it dry properly so sucked that into all my system 😔 coughing and carrying on for about a week . 91 Corolla . My tip keep a spare paper filter so you can take the appropriate time to clean and oil your filter

I have run a K&N filter in my 2012 model HiLux for 10 years and 170,000 km's. My MAF sensor did send my car into limp mode at 160,000 km's but then again, the MAF sensor had never been cleaned. After I cleaned the sensor, not a problem and now the MAF sensor gets cleaned, on time. I will add another K&N filter to my next HiLux too.

I believe they also make a cabin pollen filter kit aswell (K&N, Part No. VF2000) for Hilux, Prado 👍✌️😎🇦🇺🍻

Had one on the motorcycle for years and it has been great, filter is white-ish, oil is red. I'll be getting one for my V6 Hilux when it is due. Just need to watch out where you buy them from, lots of fake K&Ns online.

Been using it in a Hilux 2013 1Kd for more than 2 years.Worth the extra dough in my opinion OEM filters are about 42 AUD compared to 200AUD i paid here(Pakistan) but KN are cleanable and 3 times longer between service or change so i am happy in last year i only cleaned them 5 times instead of buying new filters and it still has a long way to go

If you love your car never use one of those filters. KnN etc. Ask me how i know! It can never work better than a paper filter. I love this channel but i can't agree with whats being said here. My intake manifold after 200k kms what thick with soot. Like someone chucked grease in there. It was soot from driving in traffic and the car breathing in all that diesel smoke from trucks and buses. I'll never ever use this crap.
