Thirteen kids though. That's what they were talking about. They weren't counting the parents. The original book, Cheaper By The Dozen, was written in 1948. The author wrote a fiction but it was based on his childhood growing up with his twelve siblings at the turn of the century. And in that time period, there was a "Baker's Dozen" which counted thirteen as a dozen. :)

Yeah, Alyson really has incredible career. I found her first a cover singer in some of Kurt Schneider's videos and then as a youtuber star. Then I found out she's a dancer. Then I found out she was the girl in the Step up movie. Then I found out she was Isabella Garcia Shapiro (MIND BLOWN by this point). Then I found she was in some other places (like the Kingdom Hearts series, Avatar the Legend of Korra, etc.) Now I find she was in Cheaper by the Dozen too... The number of surprises she's given me is one of the reasons I never check her filmography. I found out each of these things separately, when looking at something else altogether. At this point, it's a running gag in my life. "Alyson Stoner was here too? Really? Wow!"
