Like I’ve said, in the past, I spent six years on the road with my dad. He was a driver. I was a passenger. Obviously I am in a wheelchair. Hence the name power chair trucker. I am so watching your videos. Kind of makes me feel like I’m back on the road.

Hey Josh, in the last video you were talking about a trucker's working hours etc for both Canada and the US. You were wondering about European truckers who drive "heavy goods" and there much shorter working day, and longer and more rest periods etc. In 2001 a study was conducted about trucker fatigue in all EU countries. They found serious injuries and deaths by heavy goods vehicles (HGV) to be significantly high. The main cause was driver fatigue. In a survey almost 50% of truckers of HGVs fell asleep at the wheel at some point in their careers. In 2011 new regulations came into being in the EU after a decade of discussions. In 10 years since the new regulations came into being fatalities involving HGVs decreased by 39% and serious injuries decreased by 45%. As you are aware any accident involving an HGV and other vehicles on the road it is usually the other vehicle occupants more likely to die or received serious injuries. In Europe the population density and number of vehicles on the roads most used by HGVs is far greater than it is in Canada for long haul truckers. HGV truckers in Western Europe have shorter distances for the most part from where they load and unload than here in Canada.

Yeah, you want to be meticulous on the service is an owner operator as you know because downtime on the road and downtime in the shop is very expensive

Hi Bro. I do not believe a single word about people paying to have CDL without proper training as we all know johnny flip flops are all fully experienced drivers with skills that surpass all us qualified experienced drivers LOL

I saw that CBC special. It was quite shocking, but look at what kind of drivers they have running in the States. Can't speak English, can't read the signs. Putting so many lives in danger.

Its wild that the Humboldt incident didn't end up doing anything to the driver training situation.
@canadiantrucker79Ай бұрын
It sort of did. They created the MELT program. Manitoba entered in to it with Alberta and Ontario. The problem is, its another scam. MELT stands for Mandatory Entry Level Training. It teaches load securement, Pre trip inspection and Air Brake test.....all were taught before MELT was even created. The politicians of 2019 rode on the Humboldt tragedy to get it passed. Also, I should point out, if you watch the CBC Market Place report, it's not just the driving schools. They just sign off saying you got your training. For a price. The third party company that Ontario uses to handle their CDL Licensing (I think their name was Serco or something like that) are the one who has testers that are taking bribes to pass people. The company even tells the testers to not doc points for the first traffic infraction. Manitoba uses MPI which is a crown corporation. MPI has it's problems but taking bribes isn't one of them.
