I don’t know why I just discovered you but you prove the old adage that the guitar is a tool and a great artist can do great things with said tool. You took a guitar that’s around a hundred dollars and wiped the floor with people I’ve seen play guitars costing 30 times as much. Stellar playing.

I have bought exactly the same guitar, but with maple neck, 6 months ago and I have to say it's an amazing guitar for the price, I could easily have payed double or triple the price and I'd be happy too. I think it has the same quality of a Mexican strat, even though it has no name pickups and strings. Really soft to play, I am amazed with it.

I've had mine since January, I absolutely love it. I changed the tuners for locking ones (by Harley Benton, also cheap but they do the job) and the string trees for Gotoh rollers. I filled in the nut slots and refiled them since they were way too deep, but I will be changeing the nut out entirely soon. I'll also get a Wilkinson trem as soon as I can hopeing it will have more natural sustain, which I find a bit lacking when I play clean. Anyway, it's so much guitar for so little money...amazing playing btw!

@jeronimomartinezfabregas3 жыл бұрын
@@matthewratcliffe1953 It's not a fat neck if you ask me, although I have no idea how it compares to the ST 62. The TE-70 I have is noticeably thicker than the ST-20. The thinnest neck I have on a Harley Benton is on the SC Custom, heavy guitar tho...I have an unboxing video of the ST-20, maybe it can help you out kzbin.info/www/bejne/f4G7aaablt2fg5Y

Thats why instead of focusing in the playing one should focus on tuning stability if you listen carefully intonation is quite not there...despite the quality of the player technicque on trying to keep tuning stability by different pressure all over the neck there s always evidence of poor intonation associated with geometric issues in guitar construction,even the scale frets distance might be incorrect for such cheap instrument,and thats something that you cant fix with a normal setup,I would stay away from them..i had other harley bentons and this has happened a lot especially with their cheaper models. One has to be really careful with this harley benton business model that is using people with affiliate programs that are promoting the brand all over the internet,when i want to watch a review i find myself ending up watching a commercial, and because this video type format is so common nowadays we forget that this are more like promoting the guitar than genuine personal reviews of any given product. This guy has a good tone but it does not have anything to do with the guitar,more the multi fx or whatever valve amp is using, the guitar is responsible for the tunning part,listen for that carefully and you will easily differenciate the player/ tone from the guitar

Do you think this guitar could be great with a proper set up and better pickups? Maybe a tuner and nut replacement? Do you think the bridge will live long enough to not be replaced after a year or so?
@Dreamdancer1111 ай бұрын
All that budget guitars need are a new nut and decent tuners(pretty much mandatory)...those things solve most of the issues right there.Now the bridge is trickier cause if you wanna block it then you have zero issues but if you wanna float it ,it ll obviously not be the ideal but it certainly ll live cause if you are able to destroy a strat bridge in a year then a strat tremolo isnt for you and you have to go more into some floyd rose type situation anyway but if you want some mild use(and the setup is good) i believe those knife edges ll last you at least a few years....

IMPORTANT QUESTION! Can you float the tremolo on this guitar?
@skincookiez75763 жыл бұрын
Of course. It's a strat copy. Tighten the trem springs to desired pitch range ie 1/2 to 1 fullstep. If you are going to use the tremolo at all it also helps with tuning stability as the room under the trem allows it to pull the strings back through the nut instead of them just sticking to a cheap nut. In fact I would immediately replace any plastic nut and string trees before any other upgrades. Lots of videos for guitar setups and they aren't that hard.

Now change all the electronics on the st20 and the pickups and the tuners has to go not to mention the plastic nut away with it,the shitty trem also let it fly away then of with the ugly hb logo. That glossy sunburst has to be sanded down to pure wood and repainted with 2-3 cans of satin black? Color. When done that take a hammer and give it plenty of bangs with it for the real relic look. Buy expensive new hardware/bigblock trem and seymor duncan pickups,schaller tuners,keep the pickguard but put it in a coffe bath but scratch it really well first. Put the decent expensive hardware and the new expensive trem in an acid bath for lovely relic finish,last sand and bang the neck with hammering here and there for the roadworn look and feel. And BOY you got a vintage worn/relic strat.
