The problem with outback is consistency. It all depends on who the managing partner is and how they run it. When my friend ran the one up the street from me, it was fantastic. Always great food cooked to the right temperature. When she left and her friend took over as managing partner, the service went downhill as did the cooking. The new manager couldn't maintain staff after Covid hit, so now I don't go there as much.

my fathers friend used to own a franchise of outback and it was one of the best places but he stepped off for a better job and the new owner started being lazy i suppose as once we went there the food was undercooked and it just wasnt the same vibe anymore.

Server at Ruth’s Chris here. The reason other steakhouses are more expensive is because of the grade of the meat being served. In order of increasing marbling (meaning intra muscular fat content AKA flavor), you have Select, Choice, and Prime. Places like Outback uses Select, making it cheaper than higher end places that only serve Prime grade. The difference is very noticeable when you compare them side to side. Also, higher end places use special broilers at very high temperatures to create a beautiful crust to make it even better. Hope this helps someone! 👍

It's not just meat grade. The cost of the building and utilities, pay grade and number of employees, location and tax rates, etc... You upgrade the product to justify the cost through the customers perceived value.

Fun fact. The Porterhouse is not otherwise known as a T-bone. They’re from the same cut, but the difference is, on a T-bone most of the tenderloin has been removed, while on a Porterhouse the majority of the tenderloin is still intact. The tenderloin itself is know as the Filet Mignon.

It's not removed on the T-bone, the filet just naturally tapers from one end of the animal to the other. If you cut all the T-bones from a side of beef, you'll generally get a mix of Porterhouse and T-bones, with the difference that I've heard being whether the filet is 3" or more in width.

Outback has major consistency issues. There 3 within a 20 mile radius of my house, and they are drastically different from each other. Thankfully, the one closest to me simply doesn’t miss. It’s always a great experience and very clean… but go another 10 miles down the highway and it’s basically like eating tires and french fries so over cooked you could file your nails down with them.

The Outback I used to work at had a bunch of tiny roaches in its drawers/cabinets, and when I asked about it to my manager on my second day, they brushed it off and just said that “they’ve always been there”. I quit maybe 3 weeks later since the promise of students going home early on Sundays was consistently broken(we were meant to leave at 10 but most of us left close to 11), breaks were never issued properly even though we worked longer than 4 hours, and the general hygiene was horrendous. (I also got paid $10.11 an hour when I was 16) My friend works at another location and it’s the location I go to now. It’s clean, mostly consistent with the quality of the cooking (as long as you know what days to go) and the service is great.

To anyone reading this, Jesus Christ Loves you so much that HE Died for you to save you from eternal Suffering and to pay for all of youre punishments (sins) thats How much HE Loves you. And if you believe with your whole Heart that HE died for all of your sins (past, present, future) and that HE rose again on the third Day then you will be Saved. And HES calling you to a relationship with HIM. Some people may Say "you need to be clean (sinless) to come to Jesus Christ" but thats not the case, Just come to HIM just as you are And He Himself will transform you and Change you and renew you, and HE will give you His everlasting PEACE, LOVE, JOY and HOPE if you come to HIM. GODBLESS you All Whoever reads this May GODs LOVE, PEACE, MERCY, AND GRACE be within you all Amen!❤

Outback is a restaurant that depends so much on the specific location. The outback near me is phenomenal, everything is always cooked perfect and rivaling steakhouses 2-3x as expensive. Almost every other outback I’ve been to has ended up being either undercooked or incredibly overcooked.

You don’t have to spend a ton of money to get a terrific meal, but you do to get a steak worth eating. The problem with places like Outback is that it’s actually a bigger ripoff to get that cheap low grade porterhouse for nearly 40 than it is to get a proper prime grade large ribeye for $80. The restaurant markup on the dog food quality Outback steak is actually higher than the markup on the beautiful ribeye at a proper steakhouse. Again, not to say you always have to spend a lot to eat delicious food, but you kinda do for good steak

Even 28 is highway robbery. Go buy a ribeye for 8-12, and cook it yourself. Steak is one of the easiest things to cook. There is absolutely no reason steakhouses should be so expensive.

Porterhouse isn't a T-bone, that's why it wasn't called a T-bone. It's thicker and from the far end of the cut the T-bone is on. T-bone is in the middle. Both of those cuts are essentially a new york strip and a filet mignon on the small side.
