I I agree with some other commenters: This is one of your most inspiring interviews. I, for one, like the minimalist approach to nearly everything and have routinely been perplexed with people’s ideas of ‘having to have everything a house has on their nomadic wheels’. Why? Because you’re a consumer? This lady symbolizes the idea of ‘to be’ is more important than ‘to have’. We Americans can learn a lot from her.
@wanderlust62 Жыл бұрын
Well said. She validated all the "advice" from well-meaning friends if I have about how I've always lived minimalistic at home. Why would I load my SUV on the road? I don't know a time I wanted something more than doing something. I traveled around the country for 7 weeks and never went without...in the same SUV that wasn't converted yet! I camp with only what I need and if I do need, I just go get it, including a nice laundromat! At 60 I am planning a simple build, I'll combine it with camping, because I love it. Kit exemplifies the simplicity so lacking in life and her build is brilliant.

there is a world of difference between a person who only lives in their van part of the year and a person who lives in it full time. The full-timer usually has pretty much everything they own in there with them. The person who only does it part-time has the luxury of leaving all their crap at home and just pulling out the pretty, handy stuff. That's why it looks so great. She has a home. I think her van is wonderful and I think she's got a great attitude and I'm glad she is having such a wonderful time. Many van dwellers do not have that same luxury.

@@garrettsherer6602 I m not argue about this. I just wanted to say that some family members are not so happy to have the responsibility of holding the address of a person who chose to live outside or in the car or RV, you name it... like a homeless. People are not all the same and don't think the same way. At least my family would never accept me yo live in my van and having my address at their place. It"s a matter of trust. People in general see car living as degrading one's life style. They may think that something is turning wrong in your mind. They may think you are having debts, credit card issued, drug issues or any other issues. It's not always easy as it seems for humans to trust when a family member chose such radical change as going to live in the car. For us this life style is acceptable and works well, but for others living in a vehicle choice is not for successful and normal people. And it is not only for my family. This applies for 90% of the member of our society, unfortunately.
