The shed plans in the video only go up to 12 ft wide and use an angled top plate so they fit together without any additional cuts. The deluxe shed plans go up to 16 ft wide and use flat double top plates. To make them stronger for the larger sizes, and to eliminate the need for compound cuts where they meet the top plate I use a long truss base and some uprights. This construction technique is overkill for the smaller trusses, but it allows for a loft in the center. Which the simpler truss design doesn't. I would recommend the regular shed plans if you want to build a small shed with a low pitch. If you want a larger shed with overhang and a higher pitch, then you can use the more complicated deluxe shed plans.

I notice that you don't use a ridge pole. Others use one. What are the pros and cons?

A ridge board is a lot of extra work for a small shed like these, and un necessary for strength. How ever if you want to use one I have included instructions on my website under section on building trusses.

Excellent Video. How much do you estimate the cost of a 10 by 10 shed? Thank you

my shed is 20 foot wide by 30 foot long, what would be the best type of truss to use?
@CheapShedsDotCom7 жыл бұрын
For something this wide I would recommend manufactured trusses. I have never built trusses over 16 ft wide but I am sure you could find some instructions. But if you are building to code that is not an option.

Why does this video show different truss construction than the deluxe shed plans 31 sizes from 8x4 through 16x 32. No OSB webbing, no truss bases? No uprights?
@CheapShedsDotCom10 жыл бұрын
Small trussed up to 12 ft don't need uprights or a truss base. So I use a single angled top plate and eliminate them to make these plans easier to build. The deluxe plans go up to 16 ft in width and 32 ft in length so a single top plate isn't an option. And the width requires a stronger truss. So the small trusses are overbuilt for smaller sheds. But that is common in most shed construction.

Check my website. I have included cost estimates for 21 shed sizes from 8x4 to 12x20.

I bought the Deluxe and planning to do a 14x16 and I am confused with the trusses 1st. can you double check page 69 (dimension) 6/12 pitch A-width 14 (128) I have the feeling that this is a mistake. Let me know if I am right. Also, when I build the truss rafter and bring the angled together to get the height. The two lower ends overlap to bottom plate...What should be the angle cut on his bottom plate for the truss rafter rest on them. I am trying to figure out the trusses jig to start building the trusses. Also, I don't understand what do you mean on Page 18. Extend it above the floor 1 1/2 inches...Please help
