Cheech, I want to congratulate you. Here’s your Little Lebowski Urban Achiever Award 🥇 😎 That is a fantastic pattern. No question: Hook’n Lips!

I tie pretty much the same pattern, but with fulling mill’s micro flex-floss for the rib.

So, quick question - I tried this about four different times and every time the quill broke. Am I doing something wrong?
@FlyFishFood7 ай бұрын
Moisten the quill beforehand. Then be careful on the first few turns.

Nice midge. Thanks for the video. Looks like a Smhaen bobbin maybe? Was looking to get one so seeing if you had a preference yourself about the tension control version or the regular. Thanks

As the striped quills become brittle with age or they dry out. Just use a light application of a lanolin based hand cream. A tiny amount will soften them right up.

@@FlyFishFood spit works short term lanolin will add years of useful life to quilts in your tying kit. Some of my quills are over forty years old and still good. Taking care and good preventive care of tackle flies tools and materials. All is key to having it last. A rusting hook will snap. Store fly boxes at the end of the season without moth balls and moisture protection your entire collection can turn to hooks with just thread and varnished eyes. Same with your capes, feathers, furs and fibres.one untreated packet can turn years of collected material into dust.

@@michaelshaw8370 see. It only needs to be wet while I’m working with it. Then it hardens up and we put that goo on it to make it hard forever.
