@johnnyd2383 eternal life is optioned only through believing in Jesus Christ and His sacrificial death on the cross not by good works. We can never earn our salvation through work. God’s Word says that we are saved by grace through faith in Christ Jesus and not by our own efforts or works (Ephesians 2:8-9). Grace Alone. Faith Alone.
@johnnyd23838 ай бұрын
@@tumbynaga In his desperate attempt to counter heretical Latin abuses within the church, your guru Luther swang the pendulum to the other extreme position.... which is also false and yet another heresy. For example, requirements for salvation are spelled out in (Mark 16, 16) - faith AND ??? (works). Or, in (James 2,26): "faith without works is dead". Your guru wanted to remove book of James from the Bible for it was destroying his heretical doctrine. To put another nail in the coffin of that heretical doctrine, (Phil 2, 12) "...WORK OUT YOUR OWN SALVATION with fear and trembling..." Advice: If one wants to create doctrine, it is not advisable to select a few verses one may like, and create a straw man out of them. One ought to select ALL verses related to the subject matter, and based on ALL of them, create doctrine making sure there is no contradiction in between any of those verses and the doctrine. When you quote Ephesians 2, you should make sure you understand the context in which it is written. St. Paul was visiting Ephesus in 54 AD and spoke in Synagogue (Acts 19, 8). We can see St. Paul in his letter to Ephesians 2, talking about the "sons of disobedience" (v. 2) and "children of wrath" (v. 3), who are clearly the old Israelites, and thus makes clear distinction and progress between OT situation people were in, and NT situation by saying: "we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ" (v. 5). Then he continues to exalt new hope that is given to us in Lord Jesus Christ of being offered Grace as a mean of salvation (v. 8), which is His free gift to us... once again negating works of the OT: "not of works" (v. 9). And finally he mentions Christians being "His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus FOR GOOD WORKS" (v. 10) saying that "we should walk in them", meaning... to perform them. Note the negative connotation St. Paul makes with regards to the "works" of the OT and positive "good works" of the NT. So my dear... my friendly advice to you would be to re-examine your doctrine of salvation as it is unsound and not in compliance with the ancient Christianity as preserved in the Eastern Orthodox Church.

Hi Josiah! I'm 62, and my motivation for staying healthy is that my father died at 74 and my mother died at 77. Their deaths could have been avoided had they been good stewards over their bodies. My mother was overly indulgent; fast food & junk food were her vices, and so was negativity. She was an Atheist. My father was very healthy until he retired and started hanging out with my mother at her favorite fast food places and donut houses. His health went quickly, and he died 6 years before my mother. I have had my own issues, which after having watched my father die, I made an oath to be a good steward over my health, for the sake of my children & grandchildren. So, I discipline myself, but not like Brian Johnson, who doesn't impress me in the least. I watch some of his videos, and his money has corrupted his mind. He doesn't look very healthy to me. When I was his age, I had already been disciplining myself. My diet was half American: anything beef, some pork, some chicken, some duck, some venison, even bison. I eat red potatoes, asparagus, brussel sprouts, green beans, carrots, bell peppers, onions & green onions, cilantro, tomatoes, alfalfa sprouts, romane lettuce. I'm picky about breads; none of those cheap sandwich breads. I have fried eggs on steamed rice & soy sauce (sparingly), sometimes bacon, and toast with butter. I did go through a period in which I was eating too much cheese, but I backed off of that. Pasta actually makes me feel good. The other half of my diet is Vietnamese cuisine, which is MY version of health food. I stay active, stay competitive with guys younger than half my age. That keeps me moving fast, and that keeps you healthy. Sorry, I'm talking too much, but I have to say, the first video of yours I watched, I liked what you had to say. So it was with the second, third, forth, fifth and sixth as well. So far, it seems you and I have the same worldview. I was even considering moving back to California, and to Southern Cal, to fellowship in your church. And I never liked anything south of Sacramento. But, I am Orthodox in my Biblical views. Anyway, time to run.

This episode offers a wealth of valuable insights, and I deeply appreciate the father’s perspective on the matter. However, I would like to respectfully offer an alternative viewpoint. While father Josiah’s analysis offers valuable insights from a Christian perspective, i believe he missed to recognize the distinction between biological mortality and spiritual transcendence. Viewing Brian Johnson's quest to extend biological life through the lens of conquering spiritual death is like mistaking a flashlight for the sunrise: both shed light, but only one illuminates the vast expanse of dawn's horizon. Glory to Jesus our living king .
