In the story, the male character suffers from Asperger's syndrome, a disorder on the autism spectrum. People with Asperger's often engage in socially awkward behaviors because they have a hard time telling socially appropriate behavior from socially inappropriate behavior . The character taking off his shirt for the woman to use as a tissue is exactly the type of socially inappropriate thing someone with Asperger's might do. The writing is very much on point and the actor's portrayal of the character is superb.
