Your video certainly helped me out. My 2006 Dodge Durango had the same identical symptoms. Dash lights went out, emergency parking lights on, speedometer stopped working, AB and check engine lights all on. And the AC stopped working. The next morning I turned on the truck and AC was working again but check engine was still on. I was like WHAT THE HECK!!! I took the truck to local auto parts store and they did a free scan. Turns out I had 4 error codes mostly related to fuel problem. I remembered I put 5 gallons of spare gas in the truck I had left over in my shed from hurricane season. They erased the codes at the auto store and the check engine light hasn't come back on. When it's time to fill up the tank I'll pay a little extra and put high octane gas to help burn out that old gas as much as possible. Thank you for sharing this video. BIG HELP.

Do you think that could be the issue with a 2002 Lincoln Town car. Speedometer doesnt work sometimes does and when it doesnt there is brake light,, ABS light, O/D off light on while the digital mileage numbers are all dashes----- as well as the mileages to empty etc. Im being told it is the cluster

I'm glad you were able to determine the problem and get it straightened out yourself. If my experience with a very similar problem (a 2001 Dodge Dakota pickup) is any indication you saved yourself somewhere between $150 and $250.00 in labor alone and that is probably on the low side five years after the fact in my case as very, very few things ever go DOWN in price.

Before throwing parts at your vehicle, make sure ALL your fuses are in the fuse box EVEN SPARES. I had ABS, Check Engine, and Brake warning lights on, and couldn't fix it for 2 years. I replaced ABS sensor, flushed differential oil, replaced EGR valve etc. I read someone say that a fuse could be the culprit. I popped a fuse into the empty "Spare" fuse slot, and suddenly the lights went away! I wasn't able to smog and register my truck for 2 years because of a fuse! I was happy and mad at the same time when the lights disappeared.

The whole diagnostic thing didn't start until 1988. Take a look under your dashboard. Do you see 2.5" male plug with many pins? It's possible but I'm not sure. Most vehicles had them after 1991 (OBDI)

I'll be glad if anyone help me here. I had the same problem with my 2007 Toyota Vitz car after replacing the shaft, ball joint and bushings. My abs, brake light and Check light came on. I diagnosed it, changed both front abs sensors, drove around a bit and all lights came back on. Diagnosed it again and the error code was my back hub. I would like to know why it didn't show back hub the first time a diagnosed but only showed after I replaced the front two? Could it really be the problem?

When too many lights go off in the cluster, it's 99% chance of a common source. My tip of the day for minor code re-sets are to just disconnect the battery for at least 24 hours. Can sometimes work, especially for minor emissions code problems.

Using the free diagnostics at the chain stores is wise. As a fellow tool geek, however, you might also like the BAFX Products OBDII Diagnostic Interface which is $22 shipped from Amazon. Sends a bunch of cool data to your phone via bluetooth, using third-party apps.

hi Steve....after 4mins into the video i can clearly see everything is working as intended.... 1.your miles from home....(with no where to eat/sleep/drink or take a dump).(you kind of messed this one up and have it covered). 2.miles from any real tools(most people dont carry a workshop around, and your workshop is very pretty). 3.you have someone with you(this is very important when lights come on and things stop working...2x people = double the fun/stress). i see you took the " oh its that guys fault " excuse hahaha. but being real tho its pretty clear you know your van and about " things that work ", and you were fine to drive :). have you ever pondered clearing out the van back to nothing and doing a refit?. peace from nz.

May I suggest you invest in a cheap wifi or Bluetooth OBDII dongle? With it you could have checked on your smartphone any codes that get triggered as well as clear them. Also, with an app such as Torque, you can get all sorts of real time info for things you don't have gauges for like oil temp, transmission temp, Vacuum etc.Real handy and the dongles can be had on Ebay for less than 10 bucks.
