I handed my 2005 1kd hilux to my son this year. It now has 480k klms on the clock. 3rd set of injectors and we have always used PENRITE 10/40. Absolutely love the stuff and your advice.

Changed my oil and filter this week used the penrite Glad you recommended it Although prior to the service the oil went black on the stick usually hard to read and clean 1st time in 5 years this has happened to the oil used the nulon oil last service haven't had this happen before is there anything I should be concerned about ?

Thanks for all the great vids. Do you use the Penrite ENGINE FLUSH when you change your oil?

Nice flex on that extra clean oil! I have an old 1kz and the oil turns black pretty quick after a change. The engine is new to me and is a bit of a mess. Plan to block egr and clean intake if necessary. Doing the injectors and glow plugs next week and will also check compression then. Thanks for all the videos and sharing information.

1kz requires oil change every 5000 km

Iv used most brands. Gulf western seemed to stay clean the longest, using nulon 5w40 cause it was 50 bucks cheaper, CJ spec vs penrite CI

In my country there's mostly Toyota oil, Mobil 1 and Liquimoly and then some Japanese brands i do not know. Always use 5W-40 as temps fluctuate between - 40 to +40 Celsius. My engine did 130k, no oil is eaten in one way or another. I'm impressed.

Can you use a thinner oil in winter like the 5/30 thy recommend then in summer change it for thicker like a 15w40 or is it best to just stick to 1 grade oil throughout the year I'd appreciate your advice thanks

Quick question how long does it take for the oil to drain from the oil filter? If I wait 5 min to check my oil level after the engine is warm or hot does any of the oil drain down to the sump or it stays in the oil filter.

I have a Toyota Yaris 2013 model with petrol engine here in the UK. The problem is the metal flat dipstick, it always shows different levels on each side, so how are we supposed to know which is the actual level. One side up to the full mark, but the other side about halfway between full and minimum mark

i also use the Penrite

As well as the viscosity of the oil Toyota also recommend the ACEA rating of the oil, for my Prado J150 it's C2, apparently it can damage the three-way cat, DPF or EGR if you use the wrong ACEA code. ACEA is a European standard, not sure what Australia or the US use. Any thoughts on this?
@markwarnberg95045 ай бұрын
Our European oils are what we call Low and Mid SAPS, less Sulphate Ash - Phosphor - Sulpher.

I am surprised about the wide range of viscosities the 1-2KD FTV can take. Not very common thing on other engines.

Is there a an overfilled level above top mark that causes the crankshaft to hit the oil level and cause “froth”. I understand froth is bad news. Has anyone ever seen this happen? I’m not sure where I picked this info up from and it’s been a bit of a mystery.
@mohamedalihebboul2214 Жыл бұрын
No never heared about, but still things are good when we respect KM
@martinlang9615 Жыл бұрын
@@mohamedalihebboul2214 Sorry, I don’t follow? I think you said you never heard about oil frothing from crankshaft hitting way too higher oil level? But didn’t understand what KM means?

what exact oil viscosity this engine use? manual say 5w-30 but people use 5w-40,10w-40,15w-40, even 15w-50
@markwarnberg95045 ай бұрын
Depends on how hot it is. If it´s above +35c you should use a 40 weight oil. Most truckers use 40 or 50 weight oils to handle the heat and hard driving.

I have never seen any diesel oil that clean on the dipstick. Has the engine actualy been run since changing the oil? Please explain.
@bobsugrue29837 ай бұрын
My oil stays clean like that for about 7-8000k then it slowly darkens My egr is disconnected and when I change my oil I run cheap oil through the motor after draining old oil out just to clean out most of the dirty oil maybe 3-4 litres then the new oil stays clean for ages even at 10,000km you can still see the dipstick through the oil so the oil never goes black like most motors
@l-n-s3564 ай бұрын
It doesn't matter it stays clean because your EGR disconnected.
