The Reef is divided into 4 rooms and provides children's club entertainment and activities for young cruisers aged 6 months to 12 years old.
Each room is catered to a specific age range, with facilities and activities to suit. There are also two dedicated outdoor areas full of fun things to do!
This is the first video in our Iona Fjords series, our thirds series onboard this fantastic cruise ship. Please take a look at our other videos and subscribe to catch our upcoming content!

Wonderful video! Thank you. We sail on Iona next week and now feel reassured and am even more convinced that my son will love the Surfers room.

Thank you so much for watching and for your very kind comment, we are so glad that you enjoyed the video and that it's helped you 😃 Surfers room is great (as is the whole Reef) and everyone we've spoken to whose children has been there has said they loved it. Our 4 year old keeps asking if she can go back onboard just to play in the Reef 😃 We hope you have an amazing cruise and that your son enjoys Surfers 😊 Are you sailing to the Fjords? We'd love to hear how you get on 😊

Thanks for watching and for your kind comment guys, we really appreciate it 😃 You're absolutely right, the tailoring of each room is spot on! We spoke to a lot of passengers who were sailing with their children and every story we heard was a good one, which speaks volumes 😊

Join us for a full tour of The Reef - P&O Iona's dedicated club for children aged 6 months to 12 years old! This facility is included in the price of your cruise, and is a firm favourite of our little ones! What do you think? Let us know in the comments below 😊

I remember going here a few years back. It was pretty fun, but ended up getting sea sick and threw up in the bathroom 😂

Oh no! Sea sickness is horrible! We are glad you managed to have fun despite being ill 😃 Did it put you off or would you go again? Thanks for watching and for sharing your experience, we really appreciate it!

Thanks for the video, very informative. We are going on the Iona next year, my youngest will be 5 years old. He has autism and will require a 121 parent/carer with him - do you know whether I'd be allowed in with him? It would be a shame if he were to miss out on the fantastic facilities.

Thank you so much for watching and for your kind feedback, we really appreciate it ☺️ We've messaged P&O to double check, but we remember parents filling out additional needs requirement forms when taking their child to The Reef for the first time. We will let you know as soon as we hear back ☺️

Hi, great video. I just wondered if the outdoor area for surfers and splashes is fully enclosed or not? It looks as though they could easily climb out of the outdoor area onto the deck?

Thanks for watching and for your kind feedback, it means a lot 😃 Yes, the outside area is fully enclosed with a wall topped by glass panels that can't be climbed. There is a gate but only Reef staff can open it, and the children are always supervised when using this space. We hope this helps 😊

Great video. I was wondering if there was an entrance for wheelchair users .

Thanks for watching and for your kind comment, we are so glad you enjoyed the video 😃 Yes, there is level access from deck 18 by the Nursery (take the mid ships lifts to deck 18 to get there). We'd suggest speaking to the Reef team when you embark to discuss access needs (you can also note access requirements when registering for the Reef- we've got a short video explaining how to register). We hope that helps 😃

Great Video - our little one will be 4 when we go. She doesn’t tend to go in unless we accompany her. Do you know if they allow parents to stay or do they insist parents leave the children?

Thanks for watching and commenting, we are so glad you enjoyed our video 😊 They let one parent/guardian come in for a short while (20 minutes or so) to help settle their children - we went in with our 4 year old a couple times and she was having so much fun by the time that we left that she didn't notice we'd gone. That said she did have one day when she was just too tired after a busy time in port, and there was no problem with her coming back with us 😊 Where are you sailing to?

Great Video. Our son turns 2 whilst on this cruise later this year. Do you know if we would be allowed to take our son into the play (softplay) area for the 2 year olds and up ? He falls into the youngest catagory but would be far more suited to the 2-4 cat?

Thanks for watching and for your kind comment, we really appreciate it 😃 We'd suggest phoning P&O to make sure but imagine that it should be OK provided that there is enough space in the Splashers (2-4) room 😊 It's important to phone in advance though as your son will be assigned to a room when you register (done through my.pocruises.com on the entertainment page, 2 weeks before you sail). We'd also recommend going to the Turtle Tots (6 months to 2 years) events that are put on in the Club House. They are advertised in Horizons and don't cost anything extra - we went to one on our Northern Europe Iona cruise in December 2021 which we covered in our vlogs if you're interested 😀 We hope that helps 😊

Are there many young adults on this cruise? 20-25

There is a real mix of people who cruise on Iona, with plenty of young adults and families onboard (and entertainment to suit). We saw a good number of young adults during all 3 of our cruises on Iona, and it is definitely a ship designed to cater for younger passengers. We hope that helps 😊
